Hi there,

Trying to leverage off peoples experience before handing out cash...

I have a usb keyboard, mouse, a laptop with a VGA connector on it, a desktop machine with a DVI-I connector and a 22" widescreen LCD monitor (1680x1050)

Both are USB input controlled (keyboard and mouse)

I have a VGA - USB KVM currently, however:

- the laptop doesn't always pickup the monitor properly (at 1680x1050) - I can plug the screen in directly, and then unplug back to the KVM and it works correctly.

- the desktop doesn't want to know about widescreen modes at all if I use a DVI-I -> HD15 connector.

So, I'm contemplating getting a DVI-I + USB KVM Switch, and connecting the desktop via the DVI cable, and use either a cable or a VGA -> DVI-A type adapter, hoping that that setup will enable me to get 1680x1050 going everywhere, and not relying on the input switch on the front of the screen.

Any one got any opinions or suggestions?

Thanks!

OK - I'm parting with a little bit of money for a replacement KVM - will report back the results.
