Anyone know how to place an order without giving someone $1500+ for who knows how many months?

Yep, wait many months for them to be on the shelves in decent stock numbers and buy one then

Probably the most sensible thing to do anyway.

There are plenty of retailers that don't take the money until just before the order ships.

IMO no one should be buying one right now because:

1) You can't find stock anyway, and keeping NZ supplied is pretty low down the priority list for Nvidia and AIB partners.

2) We still don't know the full story about the boost clock issues.

3) Nvidia will almost certainly ambush AMD at the Big Navi launch event in late October. If AMD goes hard on price, Nvidia will follow suit.

Pre-ordering (without prepayment) can be a good option, but you don't want to get your card delivered a few days before the Big Navi event, and suddenly yourself wanting a 3080 20GB.....

None of that means anything to me, so I'm happy to have an order in the queue, bought and paid for.  I can understand why others might feel differently.

Same here. Had a bit of a wobble when it came to the boost clock issues, but this has probably been somewhat overblown.

But the 3080 is more power than I'm going to need for some time and having a vested interest in using Nvidia (shield TV for streaming) means I have no reason to wait.

If you keep waiting you never build. That's why this is my first build despite looking at PC parts for around 5 years. I'm still happy with my choice, despite being somewhat frustrated at the timescale.

Would I put money in now, when the queues are this long? Probably not. Would I put money in at the start again like I did? Yep, all over again.

Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080 Received and installed.. no issues so far. Seems to be nice and quiet.

She's a huge card though - you want to check your case specs. I only have about 2-4mm between the end of the card and my intake fan

Really hoping my order comes through with Computer Lounge. Order status changed to "Hold", whatever that means. Anyone else get this?

I saw the hold thing on mine yesterday as well.Like you have no way of knowing what this means."Hold "is not a word I automatically associate with my order being expedited lol

Exactly, it doesn't look promising at all. Considering how long this wait is going to be, I'm wondering if it now would have been better to wait and see what AMD brings in October. Computer Lounge wouldn't even tell me where I was in the queue.

So nothing on the 3070 yet then? I'd love to see how it compares to the 1080TI and 2080 Series.

Official laumch date on the 29th of October. I'll be taking a look at buying one after Christmas.

So computer lounge have just updated their stocking page - they've just received their latest consignment of 3080s and....

There are no Gigabyte Gaming OCs in there.
Only TUFs, Auros and Eagles

This is getting incrediblyfrustrating. Have to imagine I was one of the first through the door, but it's going to be a month before receiving a card!

Hope others have better luck
