CrushKill: Well, listings have actually popped up now for partner cards - from around $1400 up to $1800. Not as bad as I thought it would be.

Of course they don’t actually seem to have stock for another week or so. (If that’s not delayed as well). Curious to see if the extra 300-400 bucks is worth it between some models. Bench’s have started coming out as well.

Over US$1,200 on the higher side? You gotta be s#$%ing me lol. The margin is mostly for fancier coolers so I wouldn't expect too much.

I've hit the sad realization RDNA2 is not going to compete with the 3080... if it could surely they would have leaked some performance numbers to prevent people buying 3080s. AMD really couldn't afford to be both late and slow this time.

I would venture the market for people buying $1k + cards are well aware that AMD are coming out with something soon and will wait and evaluate - unless money isn't a concern. (financially or morally).

And for everyone else? The bulk of the market don't buy these cards. That's why the, what is it, 1060 is the most owned card on Steam I think - 1050's, 1060;s, 1070's, etc.

As for pricing, a flat conersion is $1030 or so. You then add GST I guess. That's $1200. AIB cards always tack on a bit, and then more for the top end models. Seems about right.

I figure I'll be able to watch the AMD launch by the time anyone actually has a 3080 in stock. CL is listing anything now with back order being due mid October, I think PB was showing the same.

Labrakadabrador:

Sadly it seems that this is the story of this launch worldwide. A bunch of reports from the US stating that even major retailers (Microcenter, bestbuy etc) had queus of 80-100 people with the stores only carrying 8-12 cards TOTAL - FE and AIBs. Apparently Nvidias page never actually showed a buy link and went from "Notify Me" to "Out of Stock" instantly

Seems like a paper launch.
If I end up receiving my card I'll be stoked. But as it stands I'm half expecting to have my order cancelled by Computer Lounge at this stage

Sure does

The major overseas sites are saying that the big suppliers went instantly out of stock. If I were a betting man, I'd put money on Nvidia having made hundreds of cards rather than thousands, let alone tens of thousands.

IMHO they really had to 'launch' the RTX 30xx cards before the new Sony & Microsoft gaming consoles come on the market, otherwise they'd be in real danger of missing the marketing bus in a big way.

PB tech has a load of cards up now. They aren't cheap.

https://www.pbtech.co.nz/nvidia-rtx?sc_src=email_2242153&sc_lid=152947866&sc_uid=G8UUbjT490&sc_llid=11655&sc_eh=7dd803549c58ab2b1&utm_source=Emarsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Nvidia+RTX+3080+Update+%28Retail%29&utm_content=IMAGE+md_808985.jpg

Email said they went up at 2am and sold out.

Managed to grab one from Computer Lounge. Guess we'll see by shipping whether it was actually in stock like it said.

Have you heard anything from them other than the confirmation email? I managed to get an order through for click and collect which I was hoping to pick up today but their phone lines appear dead and no reply online.

Also which card did you pick up? By the time their page stopped wobbling for me there were only 2 cards that I could see in stock with 1 unit each - ASUS TUF (non-OC) and the Gigabyte Gaming OC - I grabbed a gigabyte for the OC capability but I must say it was a fair amount over what I was hoping to pay.

Nah just confirmation. I got the Gigabyte Gaming OC too and was really hoping for it to be 2-300 less.. but eh. Fingers crossed it'll turn up next week.

I just bought the ps5, oculus , went to get the 3080 but no stock.

Might be better importing a 3080.

Nvidia need to bump the 3080 pricing higher to match demand better.

I reckon you'll find that after shipping, tax, duty and some markup for warranty that the pricing is probably not far off the point.

Also, why would you want them to increase the price??? That's only going to stop people buying them. They just need to increase the supply.

They say mid October now, but when I looked earlier many said 24th September as a date. All changed now.

Early edition pricing.

Naturally prices would decrease over time as Nvidia starts to recoup development costs.

Better for Nvidia to make the.money than eBay resellers.

It seems the demand far exceeds supply at the current pricing, Nvidia could probably bump prices up by 50% and still sell all their stock.

A reminder that these chonky cards use a decent amount of power. And like it’s predecessors if you undervolt or power limit you can shave 50W off with a 4%ish performance decrease.

There is a review on computerbase.de (in german?) but I imagine other outlets can show similar.

Supposed to dispatch 24th sept.

I've just popped into Computer Lounges physical store as I happened to be passing. They had 6 cards but appear to have taken many orders.

I wasn't one of the lucky 6 but they are expecting more stock this week and next. Will apparently be sending out more info over the weekend.
