Well I’ll have to eat my own words in my previous comment. Looks like FSR4 has caught up to nvidias CNN model in DLSS3. About equivalent to a 5070ti with less raytracing performance for hopefully less cost here in NZ.

Yeah, I think once you do the math of conversion + tax + cost of being in NZ, you'll be looking around the $1300-$1400 range for the basic 9070s or if we're REALLY lucky we'll see the 9070 XT around that mark and the 9070 around the $1200 mark.

The 9070 XT is a super interesting proposition, currently and likely the card I'll be recommending to most people.

I been back in-store to PBTech, after watching some reviews this morning went I brought the Sapphire PULSE 9070 XT.
Price was $ $1,146.96 +GST   ($1,319.00 inc)

Pick up, tomorrow morning.

For NZ I think it price is pretty good.

sort of, it's the market price more than a "good" price

but at a price that is just under the 5070 which is generally much inferior

we seem to be paying over 2X USD MRSP for these things in 2025.

MSRP USD599 => NZD1319

MSRP 749 (5070 Ti) => NZD1899

599 USD -> 1040 NZD on todays rates -> 1200 NZD inc GST so around a 120NZD markup?

This is correct if was on there Website it would prove that it exists.. vs my fever dream of going in-store and avoiding the 3am stock scalp.

Thinking about it, maybe that's the "true" MSRP leaking out with rumors that it was supposed to be 650USD instead

650 USD -> 1132 NZD -> 1301 NZD inc GST

It’s still a fair bit more expensive than it used to be. xx70 tier cards were in the $900 range in 2019.

Don’t get me wrong, this is probably the best option for most people but it’s not as affordable as it should be due to usd cost and markup. And there is also nothing else in the higher tier from AMD to compete with the xx80/xx90’s

i’m seeing posts that AMD were meant to rebate $50usd to retailers to bring the price down. Likely this isn’t happening here.

Yea, general inflation takes a $900 card in 2019 to about $1100 in 2025 so there's around a $200 diff there.

The NZD value is so low at the moment that I think about $756 USD for a $600 MSRP card is a screaming deal in NZ. An extra $150 aint much.

Damn, that's a decent price.

I have a 3080 10GB and the lack of vram is annoying (playing on an ultrawide) when I try to crank up the settings - although dlss is super handy. Not keen on shelling out $2500+ for a 5080 tho, if you could even buy one anyway. Will be interested to see how the bench's on ultrawides go vs the 30 series cards. It seems on 4k they do pretty well.
