Just a PSA, the Dell U2410 has had a pretty major price drop, from $1200 to $700. Ordered mine yesterday, hopefully the quality is as good as the reviews.

That works out to 495 USD, which is actually $100 below normal Dell price in the USA and about on par with the lowest after-discount price that has ever been available there. Considering we usually get our prices hiked about 30% over the US amount, this is an unbelievable deal.

I really don't need a monitor of this calibre but for such a great price I'm extremely tempted, especially as I don't see how it can possibly stay at this price for very long! Hmm...

Yeah, it was worth it at $1200. I almost wonder if it's a mistake... Waiting for a shipment notification curently, so I guess I'll find out soon.

Does anyone know if this suffers from the input lag (30ms-60ms) that the 2408WFP (albiet only certain revisions) does?

All LCDs do have lag to some extent. There are cheaper (TN) displays you can find if lag is your primary concern, however this does have a "game" mode which bypasses some of the internal processing to reduce lag. Checkout the TFTCentral review for exact timings.

Looking good, status is now 'Manufacturing Build Complete', with an EDD of 26 March...

It's much better than the 2408WFP, also there is a "Game Mode" which makes response time even lower.  TN panel LCD's will have lower response but worse colors/visual quality.  The U2410 uses an IPS panel.

I independently spotted this deal too, and ordered immediately as I had been following the price of this monitor.

I spoke with the dell sales person, and they were surprised too since the price is also below the aussie price.

Was going to get the sound bar too, but , i think i'll wait and see first.

If anyone needs a new monitor soon, get this, it is supposed to be a great monitor.

Well, at work we get either two 17" or a 22". I chose a 22" which is sometimes a pain to work with, and I think will be better off with dual 17", but the problem is that 17" looks too much last century to me.

Once I got a 24" or dual 24" setup at home, I am afraid I am going to refuse go to work.

I too was shocked by the price drop, having followed this monitor's price since October last year.

Can anyone explain why the U2410 is the price that it is today?

I was wondering if there is an imminent release of the U2711 into New Zealand, or perhaps a 3D capable monitor or two in the old price bracket.  What gives and should I really be holding off for the next advance in technology?

Too many questions ... .
