I have a Brother MFC-7440N Multi Function laser printer connected to my wired LAN. I've got network printing working fine, but how do I use scan over network? I press the scan button and it says 'Select ↑↓', but there are no machines in the list. I haven't installed everything on the Brother disk, because I don't want all the bloat (I just browsed and selected the drivers). I'm guessing the network scanning doesn't work with Windows 7's scan engine, so what exactly do I need to install?

Pretty sure you need to setup a scan destination in the web configuration of the Brother.
Type in the ip address of the brother into your web browser and you should get a status page.
The menu options are at the top of the screen but can't remember off hand which one you need to go to.
The login default is 'admin' and password is 'access'.
