hey guys,

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A97_PRO/

that is an AM3+ board for the new bulldozer.

however i was told (and so was my mate) that our motherboards are AM3+ ready... hoping someone can confirm this, or say no. we are both looking at getting the highest end zambezi chip when it comes out.

my motherboard is (lame)  ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
and my mates (cool)  ASUS M4A89GTD pro/usb3

are these am3+, or what is am3+? do i have to buy the linked mobo at the beginning for bulldozer?
cheeeeeers heaps

gz ftw

I know that Bulldozer Procs (AM3+) will not work on AM3 boards. However, AM3 Procs will work on AM3+ mobos... but for your concern, I think it would be a good idea to send ASUS support your questions.

Only they have the answers for that one. ;)

Good for you, mate! It'll be here anytime soon. And when it does appear, I hope it wipes Intel off (competition is always good for us consumers). :)

That's not correct. AM3 motherboards will support bulldozer processors (if the manufacturer provides a bios update) - however, not all the features of bulldozer will be available if you are using an AM3 motherboard.

BP - Asus have already released a list of motherboards that will provide (limited) support for bulldozer cpus
