Ok so here is the situation.
I got a computer off trademe for $90. Specs as follows:
3.4GHZ Intel CPU
2GB RAM (DDR ram, maxed out with 4 x 512MB sticks)
and 40GB SATA hard drive...
So I'm leaving the SATA drive in there as it is, but the computer doesn't have USB 2.0 so data transfer is painful. This will be my testing machine so I need to transfer a lot of data quite often.

I've decided the best way would be by leaving the SATA data and power cables hanging out of the machine and just plug in the 2.5" laptop HDD as I need to, and when I need to add data to said hard drive from my main machine, I plug it into a SATA -> USB controller and transfer it that way.

This is working now, and its quite a good way to do so, but one small problem.
To make this possible I have to leave the computers case open since the power cable for the HDD is too small. The data cable is more than long enough but I have to leave it open all the time since my fingers aren't small enough to reach in an connect it that way.

So what I need, is a SATA Power female to male extender cable. ie, existing power plugs in at one end, length of cable in between, then plug at end plugs into drive and i can leave both hanging out of machine for easy removal.

I went to PBTechnology at Manukau today and enquired about such cable, apparently it doesn't exist. I found some online but they aren't from NZ based stores which is a must.

So where would I be able to track one down? Cheers.

It is pretty easy to find a Molex to Sata power cable, they are about 20 cm long and should be about $5 - PB should have them. I have not seen a sata power extension cable.
