I am looking for a program and i have been googling for ages and can't find it.

I will try and describe it as best i can:

You install this program on your pc right after a fresh install.

Then you install all the programs you need and change all the settings you want.

You can then use this program to create an image of the PC.

Then you can install this setup on other computers.

Cheers
Jarrad

Would Ninite do what you are after? You don't need to install it on one pc first but it does let you choose a bunch of programs and auto install them, not sure about custom options with it, I haven't used it myself but I have heard good things.

ShadowProtect desktop too.

Acronis is my weapon of choice for desktops though (SP for servers ftw)

Wouldn't Acronis/Ghost type programs assume identical machines? Identical drivers chipsets etc.

Just pointing that out to the OP.

I will point out all the computers have the same hardware so should be fine in that respect.

I have used true image before and it is great but i think i am looking for something different, i may not have explained it properly.

The image the program i am looking for creates is not a bootable image, you insert it into a pc with a OS already on it then it installs all the programs you installed on the previous computer automatically.

It was posted about on geekzone about 2-3 years ago now but i can't recall it using the search.

If not will something like true image work for imaging 10 computers? the only complication i can see is the different license keys for all the programs i am installing. I think though that all the ones i am installing allow you to change the key after install so i guess that will work?

Can't think of the name sorry but I remember it - it takes a "snapshot" of the pc before & after you've installed the extra programs/ made changes, then makes an exe file you can use on other pc's to bring them up to the same level.

Yeah that is the one, you have explained that nicely - hopefully someone here can recall the name :)

Did not see the original discussion. But, from memory PC Transplant fits that description. I think it is discontinued.

There are many user state migration tools but most move only settings + data files but do not move the exe and program directories.

There are other tools which capture an installation and settings into a single exe package - Symantec autoinstall,
Also wise packaging tools which I think are now sold under symantecs altiris brand but called something else.

Also there are other brands of installation packaging tools around, a search for that will find them

Hope that helps
