I have tried to search this forum without a lot of success, if this is already covered apologies.

Anyone else have problems with wireless internet access? I have my home WLAN correctly associated with my PPC and transferring data at reasonably high speed most of the time. However, intermittently (and usally after a power off and power back on again) explorer just gets stuck and says that it is 'locating' the web site.  At this time it still sees the WLAN and is allocated an IP address.

If I power the wireless router off and on again it usually starts working, sometimes I can also get it working by turning combinations of BlueTooth and wireless LAN on and off but not deterministically. For a while I thought it was related to the protection software on the PPC, but now I am not so sure. I think it is more likely something to do with the PPC being confused about whether it should be going over Bluetooth to my GPRS phone or over WLAN and sometimes when it starts working it reports that it could not form a connection over the modem (and WLAN starts working again at the same time). However. I cannot find anywhere which dictates that it should always go for WLAN instead of Bluetooth Modem if it has WLAN available.

Any assistance greatly appreciated as this is starting to drive me mad!

Welcome to Geekzone... Does the Pocket PC have enough memory available? Sometimes drivers can't load because of lack of memory. Since you use Pocket Internet Explorer I recommend you delete its cache files (Tools | Options | Delete Files).

Also if you have programs installed on this Pocket PC make sure to have those on an external card, leaving as much as main memory free as possible.

NExt, make sure you have the latest ROM update for this specific model.

Hi - thanks for the welcome and coming back so quickly - much appreaciated.

I am sure that I have a lot of memory spare, the memory manager thing shows 223MB storage memory, 37M program memory, 100M on a flash card and 1987M on a SD card spare.

I'll try clearing the cache and stuff next time it gets stuck and see whether that makes a difference.

Finally I have checked firmware revision, initially I thought that this was the problem as there are some comment on the new revision of the 2790 firmware that refere to WLAN locking, however, after looking into it in more detail I found out that I have a 2790b and that I did have the most recent version.
