When I first looked at mobicity, they had all the colours available (I had Yellow selected by decided not to go through) and the price was $969. Now they only have black and white available and the price is $1,009 :/

I hope we hear something from Telecom or Vodafone soon.

Yeah same. I want a red one, but would take yellow. $1009 is still pretty expensive since it still has to pass through customs and get GST thrown on top. Negri has the yellow for USD$698 which is about NZD$840 + GST + customs charges.

Just ordered a 920 from Negri Electronics. It has a Rogers logo on boot, oh well. NZ$780 + shipping, customs etc is pretty good though. They expect to have them mid next week.

http://m.nbr.co.nz/article/nevous-nokia-microsoft-tests-own-smartphone-ck-131791 So with Telecom confirming the Lumia 920 and HTC 8S, does that imply that VF will get the 820 and 8X?

There' you go. I knew about those three but couldn't say anything. Now that an independent part has confirmed those...

We will be running the TelecomTech blog again with Telecom on Windows Phone 8 later this month.

That says 3 models by Christmas. You said I was wrong about not having them available in NZ in November. Are Telecom actually going to be releasing these in November like you hinted at?

Other parts of that article make very interesting reading, I refer to the suggestions that Microsoft could/might/will release their own Windows Phone 8 handset.  It would be interesting to see what their WP8 partners might do as a result.

I'll be sticking with my faithful HTC Trophy till sometime in the first half of next year when I'll be able to talk the company into an upgrade. I will be looking forward to the 7.8 update to tide me over. Still, it will give me plenty of time to compare actual in-use reviews, and for a slightly wider range to turn up actually in NZ.

The problem is... Things have gone very quiet in the Windows Phone 7.8 release front after Windows Phone 8 was officially announced.

Odds are the vast majority of early adopters of Win8 phones will be ditching their Win7 phones to do so. And since the early adopter geek-types are the ones who would whine loudest about the lack of an update, they probably won't have too much to worry about.
'Normal' users like my wife won't even be aware of the possible existance of an update until their phone tells them one is available - or their geeky husband mentions it.

Depends how technical you want to get (November / before Xmas)...

Telecom current dates:

Nokia Lumia 920 - 22nd November - $999
Samsung ATIV S - 30th November - $799

HTC 8S - 7th December - $499
