Yeah, mine does the exact same thing, heats up when charging and when on a call for more than 15-20mins. It cools down completely with a reset. May have to try a replacement from Telecom..

If it happens every time you charge then I would get a replacement. I would try a hard reset if it is only occasional, clean setup etc. My first setup of my phone it crashed adding some contacts, and then every time I went to the people hub it would reset the phone, did a hard reset and let it sync down the contacts again and it was fine.

On a phone call would be normal, heavy use of radio etc. My older, pre windows, nokia phones use to heat up hugely just switching between 2g and 3g, if you had dodgy reception.

Love the phone and the OS, but it is a fledgling OS, bound to be teething problems :-)

yep, heats up like crazy, seems to do it mostly when i am running the GPS, so such things as maps and nokia drive etc. even GMaps does it also. it doesnt appear to do it whilst charging.

That said  my HTC Trophy7 has one exactly the same thing. i did think at the time that this was becasue the CPU was taking a bending and that it wouldnt happen on the new lumia 920.

cheers

I left my conventional (the wireless one is safe) power supply in the Wellington Ibis and the hotel can't find it.

Any idea where I can buy a replacement? The part looks generic. Is that right?

If you are talking about the USB charger the any USB wall charger works.

Yes, thanks mate. I thought it looked generic. Is the power output the same on ALL USB chargers?

Yes, it is. I use a Logitech USB wall charger (the one that came with my Logitech Performance mouse) for all my smartphones. I also have a Motorola USB wall charger that is always in my backpack for use when I am away. Those work just fine.

Got my replacement lumia back fianlly after 18days. ( gps broke on the other one) Evrything is fine on this one but the vibrate is super loud and makes a small rattle sound. Anyone else got this ? I can live with it but not really impressed.

Weird. Mine one vibrate softly.

I do prefer the loud vibrate tho...

My MAIN ISSUE at the moment is the battery life.

Woke up at 6am, removed from the wireless charger. At 5pm, the battery still has 93% left! What am I suppose to do with the rest of the battery? Sigh

yep, my first black lumia 920 had it and my new red lumia 920 does it too. it is loud, but it doesnt sound right. it sounds like there is something loose. i have contacted Nokia, they were aware of it and they sent me the following response:

Thank you for writing Nokia Careline.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance.

As you have mentioned on your previous email, you just had your Nokia Lumia 920 for less than a week. In this regard, if you would like to have your phone exchange, we recommend addressing your concern to the device's point of purchase and enquire about their terms and conditions for a newly purchased device.

In addition, please be advised that we have a fix available which requires replacement of the vibra motor with an alternative spare part.

If you wish to proceed with the fix, you need to send your device to our repair facility. Please note that you will need to bring the proof of purchase for warranty verification.

If you wish to have your handset sent for an assessment, please use and enquire about Nokia Care Direct. This service allows you to pre-book in your handset online.

Here is how to send the phone for assessment using Nokia Care Direct:

1. Visit www.nokia.co.nz/caredirect
2. Click on "Nokia Care Direct Online"
3. Fill out the form and you will receive an acknowledgement form and a directions form on how to send it for assessment
4. Please print out the forms and bring it to any New Zealand Post Outlet. Please note that Nokia will shoulder the postage back and forth. However, you need to purchase a special approved packaging for approximately $3.20 before sending the handset.

Please feel free to write back to us if you need assistance with Nokia products and services. You may also contact one of our friendly Technical Support Executives at 0800 665 421 from 9am to 5pm, NZT, Monday to Friday, closed on national public holidays. For online assistance, please visit "Contact us" page at our website http://www.nokia.com/nz-en/support/contact/contactus/

but not all usb wall/car charges are created equal.....  if you get a 1A one your phone might take an hour or two to charge.  if you get a cheap 500mA one (i.e. one that struggles to spit out 500mA) then it might take a few hours to charge.

The something loose noise is the spring rattling when the phone vibrates which holds the lens for OIS. This is normal for Lumia 920.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Nah its not, two other guys in the office have the 920 and theirs doesn't do this, also this has been discussed and discounted on Nokia care forum.

They are not all created equal in other ways as well.

It may not apply to the WP Nokia's but I know the Symbian Nokias are a bit fussy when it comes to USB chargers, not all will work.  The HP Touchpad charger works fine but one or two other USB chargers that I have are not recognised by the phone and the phone won't charge at all.  Likewise the Touchpad will not charge on some chargers.

You can make them work by joining the two middle connectors of the USB socket together inside the charger.
