freitasm: I was driving down the Quay in Wellington when my Bluetooth spearkerphone announced "There's no phone connected". I looked at the console and the phone was restarting by itself with the Telecom logo showing up.

The NOKIA logo showed up and that's it. The phone is bricked. It's been showing the NOKIA logo for the last four hours now.

Great. I guess I will get the Portico update early after all. But not in a good way.

Did you get it in november at launch? Doesnt sound like its been a smooth ride since the last 1 month or so.

Yes. It's been pretty good until now, and I thought I would get the update BEFORE any problems. I was wrong. Now have to send it in.

Not happy with Microsoft at all.

Unhappy with Microsoft or Nokia? It seems like HTC does not have issue as much as Nokia...

Unhappy with Microsoft, because the lack of updates (the update we are told solves exactly this kind of problem) is part of their update policy, which I think everyone knows, I strongly disapprove.

Also what is the guarantee that portico will fix these issues? There have been reports that users have been experiencing issues after the update too.

freitasm: Not sure, but from reports I read Portico was supposed to fix these. If it doesn't, then something is really wrong with the hardware.

At the moment I will give the benefit of doubt and contact Nokia tomorrow to arrange for this to be flashed.

Still think Microsoft is not doing the right thing with this update policy.

might as well wait till March? Rumours has it that is when 'Apollo Plus' update become available? Tongue Out

Right. Got the phone back by pressing POWER + VOL DOWN.

Still think lack of updates is bad policy. And didn't like getting a brick for four hours. On the other hand, thanks to BrentR for passing the tip.

Have seen this on my handset. The soft reset worked for me in this one too. This came after the screen freeze for me too. My lumia is about 10 days old and I have spoke to the retailer I bought it from. He is happy to replace/refund it as he will sending it back. Just thinking what to do? Hold on to lumia with the hope that portico will fix the issues or get something else?

This is indeed difficult.. If you are still wanting to use windows phone, maybe can get HTC instead? Since this is the first time you have issue with Lumia, why not give another chance?

Ya could give it another go to see if things get better although this was my second attempt at lumia. The first one lasted. 2 days and refused to power up after that. I do prefer the lumia over 8x as the Nokia apps are a great edition to this device when the device works properly.

I've taken back the Lumia 920 to Harvey Norman with a possible ETA of two weeks - I noted that if they do need to replace it I'm happy to take any colour that is available. As the guy said at the store it sounds like a hardware fault if I'm getting hard lock ups that badly.
