Anyone else been travelling with their Lumia 920 (purchased outright from Telecom) on Vodafone?
My wife is in Europe with hers at the moment and is having huge trouble getting any data connectivity - which is messing up her travel (e.g. she ended up 10k away from her last destination at night in the wrong part of town because she couldn't get to the info).

She bought the Vodafone roaming data package before she left and apart from a brief moment in the UK when the help tech gave her a special proxy/port for the apn, she has had no connection.

She's been on the phone to Vodafone plenty of times, which is of course extremely difficult whilst travelling, and they are just blaming the phone. Can't see why though. It should simply work.

Just adding this here in case anyone else has had some experience there.

Also on a side note, the new fixed roaming plans have no competition.

Glad to see you chose the Red -- it's my preferred colour too.

There are some great apps that come with the phone such as Here Maps and Here Drive, not to mention Office and Calendar.  However, I've hunted out some others that add a lot of extra functionality so far as I'm concerned:

-  My 2 Degrees
-  MetService
-  Brolly
-  GPS Satellite
-  NZ Herald
-  Flashlight XT
-  QR Code Reader
-  Snooze It
-  Speedtest.net
-  Xe Currency
-  Battery Widget
-  Yellow NZ

The phone reads QR codes out of the box.. Hit the search button, then the button at the bottom.

I agree no need for a QReader app.

Other good apps:
4th & Mayor - Foursquare app
Mehdoh - Twitter
Photobeamer
TuneIn Radio
Accuweather

[edit] With my phone in front of me add:
Battery Sense
Spotify

Also a lot of specific apps for work:
Zendesk (helpdesk app)
Air NZ mpass
Lastpass
Text Reader

I had a lot of looking around and bought a Nokia Lumia 920 for work purposes while I use my Samsung Galaxy S4 for personal use.

The camera is much better than the S4 and I'm pleased the mobile is fast and responsive compared to the other nokias I had running symbian.

I used the wireless charging pad that I got for my Galaxy S4 and it works .

I looked around and decided on a 920 since I used Mango before and was quite impress with the interface.

There's alot of cons I find on this mobile but not that it bothers me because I still prefer Android.

I find the Rotate screen is annoying and also the keyboard .I would love to disable rotate screen and also use T9 input not Qwerty . Tried looking at the nokia store to see if there was any app but there weren't any.

The call quality is exceptionally better than the S4.

I hope Windows Mobile keeps up the improvement right now I feel it's still not my ideal mobile as there's alot of stuff that are missing.

How do you find battery life compared to the S4?

I am finding the battery life a bit sucky, but it has only been 4 days. I remember the S3 having sucky battery life for a while and then coming right.

This 920 slaughters the Nexus 4 for fun to use factor, there is just something about the shape and interface which is so much more personal than the Android interaction of a UI.

IMHO

Battery life seems to be the same compared to S4.

My S4 drains about 20% overnight .
I was at 97% when I went to bed last light with the Lumia and now its 57%

Still hard to tell because I just don't use the lumia much. There's absolutely not much to do. When clicking on a video clip from NZ herald it just doesn't load. Lots of limitation on the device its hard to find something to do.lol
