Any recommendations for a good windows phone Nav app. Coming from google maps on android, Bing maps is really poxy. Happy to pay, but just looking to see what others have used before putting my cash out. Nokia drive would be great, but it's not available here for wp8 yet. Probably a great argument for the Nokia phones!

I have been using Wise Pilot and Navigation.  Both "ok" and do what they say they do... Would like to see Nokia Drive here (for non-nokia phones.. like in the US)

I use Navigation on my HTC Titan (WP 7.8). It was $7 odd and it's online voice guided turn by turn. Pretty good but doesn't seems to work or has been updates yet for WP8. Nokia Drive is the best out there.

GPS Voice Navigation is the prob the best app for WP8 non nokia devices where Nokia Drive is not available.

Can you reset region to US and download HERE Maps (formally Nokia maps)?

I have my 920's region set to US to enable full resolution pics upload to SkyDrive and I am 99% sure I am accessing US store and apps.

Is worth a try anyway as HERE Maps is a damn good product and free

In order to access US apps, your Windows live ID needs to be a US based one. I switched mine to US last month after Xbox team chaged the policy which lets anyone with a Windows live ID switch their region once every 3 months. Before once you had set the country on your account, that was it so you had to create a new Windows live ID for another region.

go to www.xbox.co.nz, log in with your Windows Live ID, and you will be able to switch your region there to US. After few minutes, this will reflect on your Windows Phone app store account as well and you will see a hell of lot more options to choose from.

Read the warning carefully before you switch to anther region. You could very well loose ability to download NZ specific app as the developer might not have published the apps out the NZ marketplace. Other things like Xbox music pass etc will be gone too and you will need to re-subscribe again using US store.

Biggest issue is method of payment. Your NZ credit card or NZ paypal account will not work with US region Windows live ID. Luckily with ASB fastnet classic, you can in real time change addresses on your credit card online to any country. I switched to my US YouShop address, added the credit card on Xbox.com website and then changed the address back to my NZ one on ASB fastnet classic. I can still buy apps off the US Windows Phone store.

FWIW: I've never had a NZ Microsoft Account/WLID, always US and as far as I know I haven't missed out on being able to install NZ apps (or noticed NZ apps that aren't published into US store)

I did not see ASB listed in the US store which I checked before switching my account to US. Rquested ASB on twitter and they published it US store (possibly even more countries), switched my account to US and couldnt be more happier. More selection of apps, cheaper and also get to see more reviews on apps that might not have a review on the NZ store.
