The leather pouch is awsome everybody asks about it when they see my phone :p The only downside is the nz map which is of not much use at the moment I hope nokia could improve on that :( Did anyone tryout fring ? Its a nice messenger which allows you to connect to msn/sip/skype/google and its FREE :) I tried agilemessenger it was good but its a shareware so you can only use it for 7 days. NZtechfreak which game are you talking about ?

Also when I start the gps application why does it ask for a wlan connection ?

It asks for the WLAN connection so it can download new maps if it needs to and/ or download guidance instructions.

Where did you get the firmware update from? Would you like to explain in some more detail how to go about it? Thanks.

Download the Nokia Software Updater from here
N95 isnt in the list so just pick N93i.
Install, run and update your N95. :)

Can someone confirm whether this phone can take 4GB memory cards?  SDHC-compatible?  There are some people in the net who say it is compatible but I cannot find anywhere in the specs that confirms this,

Apparently, the new firmware gets rid of the red tint in photos.

Just back from San Francisco, and San Diego roaming with my N95. Singapore import.
Switched on Navigation for the USA before I left.
This phone was awesome to travel with. Snob value at the least from everyone who saw it and inspired sobs from those mates of mine who are waiting for the Iphone ( just tell them no HSDPA to see real tears).
Wifi was great especially with Super 14 games on the weekend and the Americas cup. FRee wifi everywhere I stayed and the browsing was solid.
GPS was a mixed bag. Turn by turn navigation looks promising, make sure you have traveling by foot or car tickedas it was embarassing when I navigated my freinds in the rain on foot up a footpath in Stanford only to be told to perform a U turn as the N95 thought we were in a car, this is after a 700m dash.
Also the GPS takes a while to kick in. Sometimes many minutes, at which point your friends have deserted you and already found the street.Hopeless in a car or in a train.
City guides are not really worth it. Getting the phone number of FRY's was the only benefit. All the good restaurants we went to were not in it. Maps of USA are very detailed. but once again not really useful if you can't be arsed waiting several minutes. Sometimes it kicked in in several seconds but this was rare. Waiting for the vodafone bill to come in but imagine it will be huge.
I had used maploader to load USA, Australia, and NZ before i left.
PXT and sending video files worked well.
5 mega pixel camera works really well, not getting the red tint issues other people are talking about. Great not having to take my SLR or Sony N1 as well.
Very easy to call someone by accident, especially when wearing tight pants. Phone can drain very quickly without you know ing it. Even in leather case the dual slide can click open with movement and the keyguard unlocks and b4 you know it you are calling NZ.
Is there a keyguard safety?
SUrvived mechanical bull riding, must be a tough phone.

Sandisk claim that N95 is compatible, but no word from Nokia yet, and no one has tried it that I am aware of (apparently the SDHC cards are only just becoming available to retailers now).

So in short, there is no rock solid confirmation as yet, but if Sandisk say it is then it seems likely.

I was talking about Doom. If you get C2Doom it will run the WADs (many available for free on the net, I'm loving the Star Wars one but also have GoldenEye, Doom 1&2, CounterStrike, Half Life and others), it costs $5 euros. So nice having a handheld gaming unit thats always on hand. . .

icejam: Does anyone hear any "fizzy sound" (like a high pitch tone) when you put your ear on the phone?
Apparently i tried 3 shops and 2 got those bloody problem! (PI doesn't have any problem but lack of language options)

I've heard others talk about this problem, you'll have to shop around until you get a handset without the sound. Whats the problem with Language options? Should be possible to get it sorted, maybe by changing the product code via Nokia Software updater to one from the region whose language options you want?
