I'm having some trouble with an Apache not syncing. Running Activesync 4.5 with XP - The same laptop works fine with a different Apache but keeps playing up with this other unit. When the device is plugged in, a LAN connection appears as 'acquiring a network address' then shows as having limited or no connectivity and Activesync shows the error message 'Activesync cannot connect to the Windows Mobile powered device. To troubleshoot...'

Using McAfee SecurityCentre but have followed all the steps here http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=65179 to give access to appropriate apps.

Any further tips?

Cheers

The most common cause of problems with ActiveSync 4.5 is a firewall. Check that McAfee is not blocking the required applications. Mind you, even when completely disabled McAfee, ZoneAlarm and Norton Internet Security still interfere with network connections since they have drivers hooks.

Thanks for the speedy reply Mauricio,

The problem still occurs with McAfee closed down. Does the fact that it works fine with another Apache mean anything?? ie faulty device?

Have you soft reset the Apache? How much memory is available now? If you use the browser a lot, try opening Tools and tap the [Delete Files] button.

Also, make sure it's plugged directly to a USB port, not a USB Hub, not a docking station. Power IS important.
