psychrn: I think I found a good Calendar replacement for the stock on on WP8.
True Calendar 8 in the app store.
However its $4.49 to by.

Have you tried Chronos calendar? Has been a while since i flirted with WP8 but it was one of the better calendar apps back then

Geeze- sourcing the camera grip is a bit tricky. Nothing available locally at this stage

I'm also in the tron, trying to get hold of a charging cover.  Let me know if you find anywhere that'll ship

robax: I'd be very interested in seeing some images from other 1020 owners to compare and use in the next video.

Drop me a note through my profile and I'll send my email address - Or put a couple of your low-res/high-res image pairs on your SkyDrive and share them here.

I'm particularly keen to see sunny-day cityscapes, such as a hillside full of buildings or houses going to the edge of the frame, and without anything close to throw the focus off.

Hold the camera dead steady or hold it against something stable (don't scratch the body) and use default settings.

That would be very much appreciated and will make the video more interesting!
Rob

No one wants their 1020 images cross-checked?
I'm doing my review video this weekend and it would be something new to compare the output from multiple 1020s.

I really want one of these! I'm a little skeptical about buying one now after last years 920 release telecom then bundled them with wireless chargers, don't want to buy one and have no accessories then a few months down the track see them all getting free camera grips or charging covers.

Are telecom selling accessories? Or going to be?

I called into a  few telecom stores a few days ago.
Im afraid to say non of them gave any indication of getting any accessories at all.
So that was a bit disappointing.
In fact a lot of them had no idea re the phone at all!!

I just called into my local Noel Leemings to ask about price & availability of 1020. They advised it would still be a couple of weeks away.

They quoted me $988 with this cost+7.5% deal you can get between 12 and 19th of October (need to bring this flyer in store). Apparently you can get a rain cheque on that deal.

Seems like a good price??

This is not a good sign! Like the 920 a year ago - flagship windows phone, flagship nokia device but no real push from the retailers - the only legit accessory (a case) I managed to get was a case from the nokia twitter account!

I think the only time I have seen a windows phone on TV was briefly when telecom advertised interest free handsets.

Despite these reservations I'm still wanting one!

I have found this far too common over the years.  Most cellphone store staff seem to have no idea what is 'down the pipeline'.  As someone who works in tech, not looking at the future seem stupid to me, but the majority seem to wait till their supplier emails them with 'XYZ is now available' and then they try to figure out what XYZ is.   I confused the hell out of one store employee by asking them if there was a wireless charging cover for a lumia 520 after it had just come out, and I was unaware if it was even a thing (it's not).  I got stories about wireless routers and all sorts.

The people at the telecom store I spoke to expected there to be a lag between the phone release and the accessories release.  Their expectation was for both the charging and camera grips.. but they had nothing to back that up in their inventory/supplier information.. just that's what they expected to happen.

I spoke to Harvey Norman in the weekend who have just got the white ones in, The rep said they wouldn't be stocking any accessories camera grip or wireless cover :-/

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the NFC in the 1020 for paywave payments yet?
