I love 4G when I'm tethering, but DC enough for most things.

Always find it curious that people think having 4G will make them use their data cap faster. My phone usage hasn't changed for having 4G, data cap no more endangered now that it was previously.

I notice the 1020 is up for pre-order on Telecom, but I can't see how to buy it outright.. and what a price.. yikes! And of course no accessories in sight either.

ok I called them up and after a fair bit of mucking around, it does seem possible to buy the 1020 even without a Telecom number if you just buy a pre-paid one over the phone (and presumably in-store when that happens) and accept the new pre-paid sim... and then just use one's own sim instead.

They didn't get a date and I didn't get into asking about accessories because even the phone itself wasn't yet on their system there.

I'm a bit concerned about the very high price (compared with the phone overseas and the other models) and that they'll probably charge a lot for the battery grip.. not really happy about spending $1400 or more on this phone whilst my 920 is still doing just fine.

I'll give it a few days and see.

Expansys NZ have them for $997.18 seems an odd number. Plus they are in stock now

And the problem with buying at Expansys is the GST.. I had to it on the last phone I bought there.

Telecom is calling me back on Monday to update me on availability here. I expect the and of the month like everywhere else.

I know I'll kick myself when the other shops do them in 2 months with free battery grip and charging back.

yup the GST. I had one on order from Clove which I mentioned above.
Not much difference in price including postage but we can still get stung for GST on arrival either way.
Upshot is I have cancelled that order and now placed with Expansys. Probably get it 2 weeks quicker hopefully.

Is this available yet? Telecom's site says pre-order but perhaps someone in the know might have more information?

They were supposed to call me back yesterday with availability info but they didn't. They probably don't know themselves yet.

We have selected wasabi2k to do the TelecomTech blog for the Nokia Lumia 1020 and he received his today. It should be in stores soon...

PBTech says they have parallel imports in stock right now.   Today I took a chip out of some concrete and cracked screen on my lumia 800, so the question of "do I wait for the 1520" just got answered for me.

Warning: reality may differ from above post

Does that mean they're in the shops or was that just a special case for you?
