Perhaps I used the wrong term when I said lock screen.  Perhaps the sleep screen might have been better.

Anyway you still have to unlock or wake up the Lumias to see any waiting messages etc which is a pain.  Once glance at an older Nokia and you know whether or not there's a message waiting.

chinagirlnz: So I see the amber update is now available in NZ:

http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/wp8-availability-in-asia-pacific/
New Zealand
Product      Description      Latest version               Lumia Amber update
Lumia 520  Telecom          1030.6408.1309.0004   Waiting for approval
Lumia 820  Vodafone         3047.0000.1328.3009  Available
Lumia 920  Telecom          3047.0000.1326.2009   Available

I have a Lumia 920 on Vodafone, but when I check for Updates, none are available.

Anyone know when the update to Vodafone for the 920 will come (or how I can get it without resorting to flashing?)

Thanks in advance ....

From what I've read the Amber update is not available for the 520 and 625:

The software won't be available on the 520 and 625, because those two smartphones have a smaller display memory, according to Nokia.

http://www.computerworld.co.nz/article/523952/nokia_updates_lumia_smartphones_camera_app_better_imaging/

But then there are other websites (including Nokia) saying it will be available sometime in September and/or pending approval.

The update will be rolled out in stages depending on the model and country. The Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 will be getting it first, along with US models 928, 810, 521. Nokia expects to complete the rollout for the 920, 820, 720, 620 and 520 by the end of September.
You can check if the update is available for your phone and country here:

andrewNZ: Have you enabled the glance screen and/or double tap to wake?
I believe double tap is pretty hungry, and I suspect glance is too.

Yeah i turned those off, battery is much better. 7 hours off the charger still at 85%, been using a few texts and sent pictures over 3g.

It's better battery on the 925 which has AMOLED screen rather than LCD, where black really isn't off

Another problem I am seeing since going to GDR2, my WiFi disconnects after a couple of minutes after turning it off (not power down). You can see it reconnecting to WiFi soon after turning it back on. I see others reporting this on WPcentral.

One more thing to my last post. WiFi only drops when running on battery. While charging it does not drop off.

Probably stating the obvious here, but there is an option under Advanced in Wifi "Keep WiFi on when screen times out"?

Automatic check is once a week, so you forced it to be earlier

What's up with Video Trimmer? You can see it but not install? It's working for me but I use USA Store

Is it simply not in your store? Try the QR code on the link above?
