GDR2 on my Lumia 820 has been good and bad.

The best of the good... the battery life. Post GDR2 I get 13+ hours everyday.

The worst of the bad... my SD card cannot be seen by apps even though they can write to it and WP8 says it's there. Plug it into my desktop and all I've done from apps (incl. taking photos) are there on the card. Really strange. Others seeing this also... http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-720/245081-sd-card-contents-music-videos-pics-arent-showing-phone.html  My Other storage has also blown out and I'm struggling with 200MB free on the phone and been like this for 4 weeks now. The Other data blew out at the same time my SD card stopped working correctly. Could be related. May have to do a hard reset.

I am a little worried that all my txt messages and apps will disappear though as I hadn't set it to backup my messages to Skydrive.

if you've purchased apps, they are tied to your windows live account.  you can grab a new phone and reinstall them (*) and you wont have to pay again.  not sure if the 'in-app' purchases or photos/text messages will be backed up though with the skydrive option turned off.

Why did you disable the 'cloud backup to skydrive' option?  by default is uses a wifi connection to do the backup and only does it over a mobile connection if you dont connect to any wifi for a week.

(*) without the backup option, you'll have to install each app seperately

I guess I can only admit to making a bad decision.  For some reason I had mis-read the back-up option.  Will certainly make sure it is set up to do this once the phone returns.

Certainly miss the speed and clean functionality of my WP8 over the old clunky, half the apps don't work, Android phone  - NOt to mention everything I had set up - bill payment info - Chronos Calendar and so on.

Okay....couldn't believe the Nokia Support Service.  To start with was the pre-paid return sticker/address to send my phone back.  Which  did on Wednesday 9th October.

Phone was returned to me by courier - complete with a 'spare' pre-paid courier bag for any future problems.

Included was the usual invoice/repair document.  I was dreading the standard - "moisture damage" reply, but No - appears that the Care display module assembly had died, and was replaced under warranty.  I am impressed with the speed of the service.

Nothing was lost on my phone - all data etc still there.

There were no quibbles etc about the phone, which was purchased through The Warehouse - as a parallel import from Aussie.

So nice to have it back.
