Hi all,

I have finally brought the Lumia 625 from Vodafone! I love it. I don't know why anyone uses android compared to WP. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me why in the Windows Phone Camera app, the preview looks better than the actual captured picture. Previews look perfect, but when I actually capture the image, it looks a bit too sharp and noisy compared to the preview. Is this normal? Anyway to change this? Anyone have this problem?

Otherwise the phone is fantastic.

Thanks,
P

Because not all android phones are made equal... users of a Vodafone 865 might see a Lumia 625 as an upgrade, but those of us with an S4 for example don't ;)

Hopefully MS will release a patch for your camera, won't be long as MS patches come out on Tuesdays :)

Sarcasm, the Internet blood... I see your plastic Samsung S4 and raise a HTC One.

Back on Windows Phone have you checked if an update is available yet? What version of the software are you running? When did you get it?

Hi.

I am running the latest version available for the 625. After testing some more it appears that macro/closeup shots are fine. It is just landscapes it seems to happen on. Google mentioned an app called HD photo viewer to fix it, how ever my data plan has run out after checking for updates so I will try after I topup tomorrow.

Thanks,
P

First things first. If you have WiFi at home leave WiFi on and connected all the time. The same for office (if your employer's policies allow it). You can't really live with a smartphone on a permanent diet of "mobile data".

Second, check the Store for updates for all the Nokia apps. They have release many in the few months, including Nokia Camera.

The HD Viewer is just that, a viewer. It won't change what your photos are when you transfer to a PC and look at them on a big screen.

Hi freitasm,

Thanks for all your help! The reason i have been using mobile data is that im on holiday at the moment with no wifi. An update came through tonight while I was at maccas. The camera is now fixed! Thanks for all your help guys. Have a good holiday season.

Thanks,
P

But you know it's only funny as it's true ;)

I was given the choice of 5s, S4 or HTC One, I'm happy with my choice but agree the HTC One is a lot more robust. I had both the original Desire and Desire X too so wanted a change.

@OP, awesome that you didn't have to wait until next Tuesday!

Microsoft don't follow the same "Update Tuesday" rule for Windows Phone. Nokia will provide incremental app updates more often than you'll see a whole OS update and these whole OS updates are reliant on carrier approval.

agree totally and its seemed a silly comment to make given how many Android phones are sold compared to WP's, and a comment that wasn't required.

As I've said before I think its great we consumers have such a choice, imagine how low tech and behind we would be if there was only one smartphone OS provider.

I'll have to say after using various Android phones (Ideos X5 / S3 / S4 / Z1 / G2) and now using a Nokia Lumia 920 I prefer the smoothness of WP and the screen on the Nokia 920 + the camera it's an amazing phone.

The Sony Z1 would be a close second, but it's hard to ignore the daylight screen on the 920 and how great the photos are. The live tiles are amazing and it looks clean and tidy to the Android chaos and no lag :-)

I still have a soft spot for Android though and still like rooting, roming and overclocking. It's a great OS to hack and I will continue to fix/play/use Android. Choice is great. ;-)

Plus having Office is a bonus.

Just need to start saving for a Nokia 1820.
