Another disappointment is the Nokia Panorama mode, iPhone (4S in my example) implements this much better.

Is there a device search in WP8 like the one in iOS? I've tried a variety of search phrases with no luck, either I'm not structuring my search correctly or it is not a supported function.

Artists, Albums, Songs, Applications, you name it, I search for it. in iOS I use the search more often than looking for the icons.

Thanks, but not for me, I want a locally stored artefact, rather than a cloudy implementation. I've discarded Nokia camera applications for the same reason.

right, that's not currently in WP

You can search for apps by sliding to the right into the all apps view and hitting the search button on top left, or if you have a few apps installed you can click the letter name that's highlighted with a box around it to take you to that letter in the alphabet

Music etc you'd load up the Music+Videos or Xbox Music app and search there

Thanks for the tips. I've only had it a week, so it doesn't have the depth of content my iOS devices have, so should not be an issue initially.

Is it just me, or is the music volume and notification volume not separately manageable?

So far the Mobile Data (holding steady on HSDPA) and "Internet Sharing" are performing far better than iOS (iPhone 4S). Reconnection is more stable on the WiFi, and it creates a Wireless LAN, which iOS does not.

Still no Microsoft supplied Remote Desktop application?

Somewhat mute point as there is not support for Mouse either (even their own one)

correct, not currently

there are many Remote Desktop apps in the Store, both paid and free ones like this http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/mocha-rd-lite/cc7c5630-3c9a-452d-aa10-17a8b599dde6

Thanks. I'm currently reconciling WM6.1 features against WP8.

its a complete ground up rewrite on the NT Kernel with WP8 so there are no similarities at all.

Sorry, should have been clearer. I appreciate that they are code wise completely different, I'm reviewing functions and features to see where the MS Mobile roadmap has progressed and where it has regressed from a OotB perspective.
