Updated mine few minutes ago. Thumbnail view addition is great addition. I have lots of photos on my OneDrive account. A lot easier now to sort through them on the phone.

They also introduced a referral link system with this OneDrive rebranding update. Both users get an extra 500MB added to their OneDrive account as bonus. You can now also buy extra storage on a monthly plan instead of just annual plan.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I do wonder why they are dropping the skydrive brand. It was one of their stronger brands. Non-tech savvy people seemed to know the brand, and understand (vaguely) what it meant. They also 'respected' it, in that they seemed to feet it worked reliably & effectively for them and their peers that they used it with.

Now its called onedrive. I guess it fits in with xbox one? Something 'enterprise' (cringe using that term) don't care for.

Marketing huh.

Then again I feel a lot of computer brands were silly upon release, but they seemed to fit in eventually. Like opteron (made me think of transformers??), and core 2 duo (made me think: engine 2 stroke, 2 pushrod), iPad (lol), wii, eeepc etc...

Edit/ What about the interface formerly known as Metro (Prince hah). Whats it even called now?

SkyDrive is a brand used in Europe and Microsoft didn't have the rights to use it worldwide. An agreement was reached to change the name and they settled on OneDrive.

Not marketing, not alignment with other products, they just can't use the name.

I wonder why MS often seems to lose these naming cases (eg Metro, sky drive) , when Apple seem to win them.

I like it and have taken advantage of the free 20Gig for a year that is on offer in the hope that in a years time it will be the norm.  One thing I am confused about is that it says that by activating the auto backup for pictures on my phone there is a permanent 3Gig available, but having done this I see no change.  Is it likely that this will take time to flow through or will not happen till I upload . . . I have set the backup to operate on HQ on wifi.

I didn't get anything either. I uploaded a few photos using mobile data, but maybe the sync needs to complete?

Or for a not so sexy acronym TIFCAM - the interface formerly known as metro.

Nope, I cancelled my sync straight away as I have many GB's of photos and it upped my GB's by 3GB!

You have to let it (at least start to) sync the camera roll, I don't think uploading a random pic or two is enough to get 3GB.

I got one years free 100GB storage by being one of the first 100,000 to sign in after 8:11am today. I got the 3GB extra almost instantly - I was already uploading camera roll to SkyDrive.
