KeeWee: BTW. When is the next Tablet PC/Mobile meeting taking place?

We are working on this with Microsoft. The interest in that group was greatly reduced (we had huge meetings years ago) so we want to perhaps add the entire Windows family to it). Let's see how it goes.

freitasm: This was promised by Vodafone, but never by Renaissance. They only market the non-branded Palm devices, which currently only includes the Treo 680. They never had anything to do with Treo 750v or Treo 700wx.

Not quite true - Renaissance were contracted to perform the initial training of the 750v with Vodafone stores, and the suggestion of WM6 early this year (as well as HSDPA earlier than that) was made, but it was only ever a suggestion. We all know how things get blown way way way out ever so often!

When you say "suggestion of WM6" is it a possibility that it isn't coming at all?

Wonder how many 750v's were sold in NZ? Anyone know or could find out?

I have my notes here of a meeting with Vodafone New Zealand and a Palm Australia person and I assure you on that day they did not "suggest" anything about Windows Mobile 6 because Windows Mobile 6 had not even be officially announced by Microsoft when the Treo 750v came out. It was confirmed that a HSDPA update would come though.

An update for Windows Mobile 6 was later announced by Palm, and actually released in Europe and Australia already. It's only in New Zealand that it's taking this long to get this update out of the door.

Sorry Mauricio, must have been some confusion about that post - I was meaning that the timeframe was a suggestion, not whether it would be available or not...

Renaissance said an update to HSDPA might be available early this year, and Renaissance always emphasized the "might" in regards to "when" not "if", (as per standard PR talk!)

During the training sessions in March (well after the launch) the WM6 question was asked (when WM6 was announced), and Renaissance said it might be available, depending on Palm/Microsoft etc etc. But anything mentioned at the time was all speculation, and always spoken as so.

Stock at one of the major suppliers is on hold for a week... without saying it I'm sure you can guess what is holding up the stock

Today I talked to my contact at Vodafone New Zealand and I was told this is still coming. Apparently they found some problems and are waiting for Palm to issue fixes for those.

Also I was told the Palm Treo 500v would be coming next month (it was already released in Australia) and I actually have a meeting with Palm next week about a "new product" - so I guess it could be it.

Has anyone tried the new ROW with Radio ROM 1.54 to see if you don't need to downgrade the Radio back to 1.12 by using the Recovery Tool yet?

http://palmone.r3h.net/downloads.palm.com/Treo750_2_23_ROW_EN_DesktopUpdater.zip

It's newer than 3AU (1.52) and AT&T (1.48).

GREAT SUCCESS! The 1.54 ROW works straight away without needing to use the Recovery Tool to receive phone calls.

(Background: previous WM6 upgrades required a downgrade for some users to Radio ROM 1.12 using Treo Update Recovery Tool - otherwise no phone calls would be received)

It's the worldwide unlocked version, completely vanilla with no customisation of any operator.
ie. no logos, no additional software etc.
