My Stream 7 arrived from Amazon before Christmas, and I'm pretty happy with the device for the price.

I tend to use devices and then pass them on (gift/sale) and I like to keep them in as close to pristine condition as possible.  My devices go into a protective case as soon as possible, though I'm not taken with screen protectors.

I ordered the official HP case for the Stream 7 - in black - from the local distributor.  It arrived a fortnight ago after being on backorder for 2-3 weeks (over Christmas) but my kids had stashed the tablet somewhere so I had to wait for their return from an extended camping trip in the far north before I could give it a test drive.

The case has a nice feel to it, but the protection is mediocre in my opinion.  It will stop the back of the tablet being scuffed while being picked up and put down, but the sides of the tablet are completely exposed (the tablet is held by rigid areas in the corners of the case) to knocks and the tri-fold flappy cover for the glass is not fixed down in any way so it's pot luck whether it stays closed if you drop the device.

If you want a cover that will protect the device from even minor knocks, look elsewhere.

I also had the same problem with my Stream 7 but bit the bullet and found this to be perfectly adequate
