With a big reorganization and Stephen Elop, Jo Harlow and others going from Microsoft I am wondering if MSFT are positioning themselves to eschew the Lumia product line. I also wonder if the
Windows Phone product line in general is at risk of divorce.

the way to think about it yes Windows Phone does go away

Going forward we just have Windows 10, not Windows RT, Windows, Windows Phone, blah balh

With Windows 10 we’re bringing our entire family of experiences together from headless IoT devices to the phone, to tablets, PCs, up to the amazing new Surface Hub and beyond into the world of holograms.

One Platform, One Development Platform, One Store, One development Model, One Commerce Platform, One Universal App Model.

Windows Universal apps will enable the UI to scale seamlessly from phone to tablet and beyond – providing a familiar and productive experience regardless of the device type.

Finally -- for businesses -- One platform means One Management paradigm and Security model across all devices.

Thanks for that Nathan, the flattening of the branding and merging of the platforms  certainly makes sense. I dearly want the phone part of  the Widows experience to work as I want an ecosystem that just simply works together. My PC, my Surface , my Phone and my Xbox all in sync

I'm sure that Microsoft will continue with a phone version of the OS out of shear stubbornness. It's a moot point whether they should as their tiny market share indicates it's all a bit of a waste if time.

I'm not criticising the product, it was just too late and never got traction so it's become irrelevant.

In some markets their market share is rising. Eg Italy 14%. Europe is showing increasing support for the platform.

Worldwide not so much. It's a nice product and I quite like it, it's just never gone any where and is highly unlikely to get any real market share.
