ICS will act as a DHCP server for you. Gateway can be your router (if you have one), and DNS should be your ISP's addresses.

On the Bluetooth adapter enter 192.168.0.1, 255.255.255.0, the gateway should be the router/ISP and the same for DNS again (ISP).

Check that your Bluetooth is configured like this:

that is done, my Firewall is disabled. My default gateway is set at 192.168.11.1 . My DNS s set in the box.
On the PPC if i do not enter the TCP/IP of 192.168.0.1 it does not connect.. That is to say if i say use server assigned IP it does not connect. If i enter the IP it connect, but still cannot surf.
I am usin Win XP pro (SP2 not installed),

EUREKA IT DOES WORK!!!!!

The fabled goal of ICS without going thourgh Activesync has been reahed.

OK Thanks for the help to one and all.

I managed it by this route...
Set up a partnership.

In network Connection find the connection you use for the Internet, mine is a wireless pci card. Right click for properties, advanced put the tick into allow other people to share this connection.

Right click the BT tray icon select advanced config...Local Services, right click network connection and use the drop down for allow access LAN/Internet.

Back in Network connection, find the blue tooth one right click properties.. Find the TCP/IP connections line click properties, make sure you give this connector 192.168.0.1 as it is apprently important. IF you have a wireless router using this connect to it and change the IP of the router.

Back on PPC go to connection delete the BT one and then click on Internet Explorer, slect a website... www.bbc.co.uk/mobile will do. When the box come up for user id and password just put a tick in the remember password and press connect. You should hopefully connect..

I have presuemed that you have done the connect to intertnet step in the Bluetooth manager on the Ipaq.
In the settings for the modem connection you can then find the advanced setting and up the baud to the max!.

Enjoy it is better than going through Activesync.
