I have recently purchased the Motorola BT headset HS820 to use with my new Siemens SX66. The problem is: Once the headset is connected, it will lose its connection after the Pocket-PC goes into its sleep mode. When I turn the unit back on, I have to turn BT OFF and then back ON again for the BT headset to work.
I have tried to Email Siemens, but I have gotten no response. I have replaced the Motorola headset and still the same problem.
Has anyone else had this problem, and is there something I can do to correct this issue?
Thanks for your help!!!!!

This is a known problem with these devices, but it is related to its Bluetooth software (although I've seen some reporting ok behaviour with some Bluetooth headsets). This happens on the Harrier/Verizon XV6600 and also on the h6365 - all seem to be using the same Bluetooth software level. You'll have to ask Siemens for an update ROM - they probably won't have one now, but if no one asks...

Thanks for your quick response.

After posting the question, I continued to search for anwsers. I finally received a call from siemens and they said that the new firmware patch "SX66Update.exe" would correct the problem. But I also heard a lot of horror stories about the update.....(slowing the system, crashing the system, or not correcting the problem). So now I am a little reluctent in trying to update the ROM. If the system locks up I would have to send it back to Siemens for a Re-Flashing of the ROM. I have located a siemens headset that they "SIEMENS" says will work with the current BT software.....BT Headset HHB-610. I will post next week after I receive the headset to keep everyone up-to-date as to whether or not it works.
Thanks again,....cgravsha

The SX66 looks a lot like the HTC Harrier. I'm not sure how close they are though. I'm told the software is different but I suspect the bluetooth software is the same.

We have another thread going on a very similar subject in the CDMA area regarding the same problem on Harriers even with the latest bluetooth software.

Not much help, but at least you know there are others beating their heads against a wall.

Still interested in hearing about the HHB-610.

OK….I’m posting this to update everyone on my case. I decided to update my ROM using the “SX66Update.exe” supplied by Siemens on their website: http://communications.siemens.com/cds/frontdoor/0,2241,us_en_0_76051_rArNrNrNrN,00.html Then click on service downloads. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOING A HARD RESET ON YOUR UNIT. This will set it back to the factory settings. After doing everything per the instructions, the update hung-up and did nothing. After 45 minutes I took the unit off the cradle and IT WAS DEAD. I called Siemens, only to talk to the most stupid technical person ever. I got nowhere with him. The unit would not do anything, not even hard reset. The display showed a faint “Serial: at the top and 2.01 at the bottom. Anyway, I tried everything and nothing was working. I finally decided to delete the “SX66Update.exe” file and re-download it from the web site. I than re-ran the program and Whalaaaa. My unit was updated with the new version 4.21.1088 (build 15005.1.2.1) and the BT went from Version 1.0.0 Build 2400 to 1.0.0. Build 3500. When I use my Verizon HS820 BT headset it now works 95% of the time. Every now and then the phone will ring and the headset will not connect. As for the Siemens HHB-610, I did receive it but they sent me the UK charger and I could not charge the phone via a USA outlet. They are now sending me an adapter. I thought about splicing the cable, but then thought if it does not work I would need to send it back. Will keep you posted on the HHB-610 when I get the new charger next week and am able to charge and test the headset.

Hope this helps...Chuck

Good information. It seems version 1 build 3500 is the most current Bluetooth software version (as we write this). This is the same version I have on my Harrier, the CDMA version of the Siemens SX66 Pocket PC Phone Edition.

As for the Bluetooth problem with headsets, there's a discussion going on about this.

I'm also moving this discussion to the Pocket PC Phone Edition group.
