My daughter just bought one of these too and can't set up how to send PXT messages. She tried Vodafone who said they couldn't help because they don't sell them and the distributor has no answers either. On previous Windows Mobiles I've owned that came from Voda, they included software that managed MMS etc.

Before she sends it back, does anyone know how to get MMS messages set up on the Vodafone network on a Glofiish?

Follow the instructions here.

Note that on some phones, steps 19 and 20 would change to "Tap on Pics/Video Options..." (if you have that option in the menu)

3. Installed S2U2. This autolocks the device after a period of inactivity and disables the screen while on a call. Probably doesn't save battery but at least you wont make phone calls while the mobile is in your pocket, or hang up on people with your cheek.

If I leave the mobile alone (i.e if I stopped checking for new notifications and/or stopped fiddling with it), I think it would last a few days with a single charge.

Can you please explain the S2U2 and how to install it, I keep hanging up on people when I have the headset to my ear, quite annoying.

I did a google search but couldn't figure it out.

Thanks.

Or just look at the sticky posts in our Vodafone forum - the instructions are there with screenshots.

From the developers site at http://s2u2.ac-s2.com/ :

S2U2 is a simple lock/unlock application which has the iPhone style slide unlocking. It can be used as a screensaver while you don't use your device. It has CallerID function (but may not work on some devices, so please try it first); S2P control plugin; and volume control. It can show many system information (customizable) even without unlocking.

Its the best device locking application I have seen for Windows Mobile (and its free!). It will lock when your device becomes inactive, and lock instantly when you answer/dial a call. To unlock you drag a slide control on the screen from the left to the right. It also features a fully featured, iPhone-style customisation panel. You can customise S2U2 to show things like a clock, weather information, upcoming meetings, SMS, etc.

The download on the site is a zipped cab file. Easiest thing to do is to extract the cab file on your PC, copy the cab to your device, and then run the cab on the device. It will then install S2U2.

I downloaded this one today, only problem is that I can't get into the settings to set it up.

Has anyone got this on their Glofiish, was there anything special you have to do after installing it?

QVGA

The settings should be available via Start->Programs->S2U2->S2U2 Settings

I installed skype y'day and works fine for text chating but when dial another skype user, I cannot hear but they can hear me.

Looks like there is an issue either with skype or the phone while transmitting the signal to the speaker. Anyone managed to install and get it working successfully.

To answer the original post, there are issues with the Glofiish X610 which you will not find with expensive brand name phones. One of them is that the battery can unexceptionably run flat really fast. From memory it comes right when you do a factory reset (complex procedure, can't remember how, and you loose all your contacts etc.). I've had the issue a couple of times, always triggered if I was charging the phone via USB. I think it can happen that the battery management chip gets corrupted. Solution, don't charge via USB. USB is not designed for it anyway.

There is a firmware update that few know about, and I have not had the issue since (although I seldom use USB anyway). From memory to find the file you need to do all of the following, but I'm sure this contains errors: You need to go to the USA support web site and eventually find the page to download the firmware, but the link is broken so you can not actually download it as the file name is too long and so it goes off the screen. Then you view the HTML source page and find the file name. Then you download any other file to get the download source path, which you then copy and edit to download the firmware file. Or something like that. The latest version I've downloaded is A13 020 0702 B6513E15. It is 64MB. Can someone suggest a free site I can upload it to for others to download? But don;t want to supply them my full pedigree including colour of my underpants...

The Glofiish is intended for upcoming markets like Russia and is not a high end phone, but still a great toy/buy for geeks who enjoy tweaking to get full value out of it. If you look after it, it will last a long time.

I've got an extended battery off eBay. Note that the price from the same selling on the UK web site is cheaper than from the AU web site (or perhaps the shipping was cheaper, can't remember). It is advertised as a 3000mAh battery, but it is actually lower capacity, but it lasts me 5 to 6 days with WiFi enabled all the time which is about double what I get on the standard battery. Just note that the extended battery does not fit the carry case, which is unfortunate as the case is great.

I'm using a 16GB memory card, got it from eBay USA site. Think the seller is "flashcards" or "flashmemory" or something like that. It was just under NZ$100 including shipping. Includes a USB plug card reader.

I've got lots more good to say about the X610, but my wife made hamburgers and deep fried onion rings...

You can never have enough Volvos!

Yes, it was my firewall blocking the connection, when I disabled the firewall it worked fine. TX.

My Glofiish x610 mobile touchscreen is not working. I reset the mobile to configure the setting again. while configuring the screen alignment, tapping the screen with stylus on the four corners of the screen is not detected and couldn't get to the next page.

Any suggestions please...

Cheers

I haven't got one myself, but it sounds like you need to do a hard reset, I note there is information about how to do that on an earlier post.
