Add me to the club, just got my trial device from Nokia after a long week in customs :)

We'll see how it goes though, doubtful it'll replace my i8910...

I'm impressed with Nimbuzz...thanks to Brent for suggesting that one...great little app.
Reminds me of Trillian...but way cooler, and more functional too!

Now I all my contacts i one place, Facebook, ICQ, MSN, Twiter...running in the background...soooo...as I never turn off my mobile, I am now in theroy available to chat 24/7.....I dont know if thats actually such a good thing!

Lol

The next app I will be testing, is WeFi....want to see how that works, especially cionsidering the internet connection issues...which network connection will connect by default, what error messages come up etc etc

Anyone else tried WeFi?

WeFi?

So if you have it running in the background, when it finds available Wifi networks, does it automatically connect to them, or does it throw up a notification popup, advising a Wifi network is available, and give you the option to connect or not?

And how often was it finding Wifi neworks.....were you geting heaps of notification popups?
Or does it just beep?.....or do they time out and disapeer?

Just added a couple more cool litle apps to the list;

Compass - does what it says
FlipSilent - flip the mobile over to silence it during calls, alarms, etc etc

It does that without the need for an extra program...

Does it?  Great  Smile

Also to add, since upgrading to v11 firmware, the phone actually now follows the connection priority!  From wifi to data and from data to wifi.

Ya reckon?

Evertime I leave home, I get the 'No WLAN' error....just keeps popping up, wont go away.

If I was to cruise the internet, an option box will popup giving me the choice to connect via VF Internet AP...so no issues there....

Its appears to just be the Home Screen...it seems it or certain widgets are using my default home wifi connection and nothing else, and not giving me a choice to change when out of range.....when it should automatcially be going to my 2nd priority, then 3rd etc when disconnected from my home wifi.

I might be using the device extensively, pushing its boundrys, but the amount of crashes I have expereinced is ridiculous...

And I notice files are sometimes being recognised, then not...by the picture viewer and video player...now I notice some files are completly un-obtainable unless opened through the File Manager...

The 'Photo Browser' app, shows all available photos...
The default 'Photos' app, does not...
And trying to select a photo to be my profile image, from within Nimbuzz...all the images icons keep changing from a standard image icon, to that of a broken image icon...highlighting an issue/bug.

I notice the image problem, could be due to putting images or other on the device via the PC, when in 'Mass storage' mode....

After loading images, the photo apps take forever to respond and load the images, even sometimes crashes the device altogether....and nor it does not appear to recognise seperate folders, so you cant seperate your photos, view them according to catagory.

And also where the photos are found...I put them origianlly in the 'Images' folder...seemed logical
When trying to find them on the device...they are found in the 'File Manager' in he 'Picure msgs' folder within the 'Images' folder....weired.
And in the default 'Photos' app, they are all found under 'Downloads'....which ignores my folders catagorsing my pitcures within...

Don't get me wrong...there are many good things, and I love the device still...but the amount of bugs, ommisions, and illogical decisions made are blimmin frustrating.

Does anyone who owns a Nokia N97 live in the Wellington region?

Love to get together to knock a few of the issues on the head...

Be even better if they were coming to the Geekzone Pizza night...could do it there.

Same I live in welly.

Just got a BSOD today... well actually was a black screen of death, it said phone has encountered a serious error and must be restarted.

I was charging using car charger and had car stereo connected using head phones jack, and laying music when it happened.

Also, has anyone set the N97 to use only UTMS (3G). I have but just changed it back to both becuase up here in Taupo with limited reception, the call keeps cutting out. Does this happen with Telecom?

I have had all my handsets set to UMTS only since April. Connections have been rock solid and battery life has been better also as coverage around home is on the edge of 2G and 3G so it was always switching between the two.

I haven't experienced any dropped calls so far. I have set my device to UMTS only too.
