Thinking of upgrading my HTC Apache to an Okta touch but just a few questions..

It has an on screen keyboard, how do people find this? I tend to text alot so if it is crap then I probably really wont get this phone.

It is nowhere near as good as the Apache keyboard. That and WiFi were the 2 features I missed most when I changed from an Apache to an Okta. I also missed some of the hardware buttons that the Apache had for menu navigation (I can't remember the details - I think it was the left/right menu selection buttons that don't exist on the Okta).

On the plus side, the Okta is far more robust, smaller, has a GPS (needs a ROM upgrade) and has a better camera. Typing is not as easy, but there are a few options for keypad layout. I tend to use the 'half-qwerty' layout in predictive mode.

I have often thought of getting a bluetooth keyboard, but then I may as well have a netbook if I am going to carry a keyboard :-)

Thanks for that, thats what im worryed about...

Wifi isnt to much of a bother... I dont realy use it much on the Apache except for the odd occaision when its more of a novelty to be honest.

What is the battery life like on it?

Much better. I don't need a spare battery like I did for the Apache. I charge it every night, but if I forget it usually lasts for 2 days easily.

One other minor annoyance which may be an Apache thing too... the headset/earphone uses the USB port.

Definitely looking relatively hard at getting one. Will try and find someone with one and see what the keyboard is like possibly though.

did you get it, or hold out for one of the xt phones? (which I think is the better option, why did nobody mention it?!)
