We've successfully managed to get Exchange Activesync running but with one issue. On occasion, it works as it should. Most of the time though, my HP IPAQ 6325 running Pocket PC 2003 Premium Phone edition will receive the sms message and then that's it. It does not seem to be triggering the activesync process. I get the sms message the I have received new mail and that is it. I then have to go and manually sync to receive it.

If anyone knows how to check or fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Geekzone. It sounds like your Pocket PC is not correctly setup for Exchange ActiveSync AUTD.

When you say "I get the sms message the I have received new mail and that is it. I then have to go and manually sync to receive it.", does it mean you can actually see the SMS?

First check that your user in the Exchange Server can actually use this service. Check this article to be sure your Exchange Server configuration is correct. Check that both your Exchange Server allows AUTD and that your Active Directory entry allows you to use AUTD (screenshots on the article).

On your Pocket PC, open ActiveSync, tap Option and select Schedule. [Sync During] should have "As items arrive". When you change to this option it will ask for the details of your connection. Again, follow the example on the article.

You have to perform a manual ActiveSync so that your configuration is transferred to the server.

Once you do that then you should start receiving the SMS and the ActiveSync should start automatically.

If it does not start, then you have to check on your Exchange Server logs and event Viewer to see if the Pocket PC actually made contact and failed to synchronise, or if no contact was attempted at all.

Also, check at the end of that article the links to patches, and comments on other user's experiences with directory permissions.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Here is the thing. Everything is set according to the article.

This is what happens.

I wake up in the morning, turn on my PPC and turn on the phone part.
It syncs fine. Connects, says I've got new mail, I click view and read it.

Then most of the other times I only get an sms message that says you got email from my email account. The activesync connection does not start.

The sms message goes into my Inbox sms account where I can read it like any other sms message.

It just doesn't seem to go from step 4 to 5 in the article. I can sync manually, I am capable of AUTD on my device and on the just doesn't seem to want to do it.

I'll check the logs like you suggested to see what I can get from there.

I've noticed that if my Smartphone or Pocket PC are off they will perform an ActiveSync as soon as I turn the radio on - regardless of having received a message or not.

The good thing is that this is evidence that ActiveSync OTA works. Now to get AUTD.

Check the logs, read the tips at the end of the article. And check the configuration on your device as suggested.

I believe it could be something on your device, because you are not supposed to see these messages on your Inbox - they should be only seen by the process and never reach the Inbox really.

Hello, and sorry for my very poor english.....
I'trying to sync my Qtek9100 with Exchange SP2 since a week, but it doesn't work.
I'm ok with the article which help to do AUTD.
But, i don't find the problem with my config.
The Exchange server is working.
When I do a activesync "manually", no problem, I get news mails.
My user have AUTD checked, but when I send a mail to this user, and when I use the Exchange's tool to detail message, I see nothing ! The mail is delivery localy, and this is no smtp send to the operator.
Is it necessary to use the mobile number of the user in the AD'parameters of this user ? I think yes of course, but I'm not sure.

I try "AUTD binding cleanup" and "Exchange Server Up-to-Date Notifications Troubleshooting " tools to solve , but many rights problems, and my admin user does not have rights on user's mailbox. What are this rights ?
