Troubleshoot connection.  I have a Cingular phone plan with a lot of minutes accumulated.  I would like to use these minute to dial-up into my MSN service with my Ipaq Pocket PC.  I don't have any problem dialing the phone from the Pocket PC, but I get an error message that there is no modem at the number (local MSN dial-up number) I called.  Is it possible to dial-up a regular account, like I do with the land line, or if I go cell phone, do I have to buy the wireless service?

Welcome to Geekzone... Not all operators offer CSD (Circuit Switched) calls - you have to check with Cingular if this is an option available on your account.

With new GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA plans with unlimited use, it doesn't make sense to use the channels for a data call that actually prevents a voice call in the same circuit, hence the move to packet technologies instead of circuit swtich.
