alexx: Ordered 2 of the 16GB from B+N but could still be tempted by a 32GB at the right price.

I bought one from B&N (as a backup in case the Amazon/OnSale one fell through) and it's been cancelled. Check your order status.

Edit: Amazon's site still says "shipping soon" but the order has now been charged to my card, which wasn't the case a couple of hours ago.

If I go to the B&N site and check the Order Status page it is saying "Unable to process order. Please call 1-877-379-0036, or 212-414-6024, if outside U.S.", but if I click the order link it shows a page with:

QUANTITY 2 (Cannot be removed) and STATUS In Process: Not Yet Shipped

It seems that "Cannot be removed" means they are processing the order and you can't cancel, but that seems a contradiction to the "Unable to process". If you check the feedback on the product, it seems lot of people have this message about "Unable to process".

I suspect there are going to be a lot of orders cancelled by B&N. I've so far got a order confirmation e-mail, but not one confirming shipping. Did anyone here get that second e-mail which indicates they are ready to ship?

If they are like HP.com they will cancel orders with an IP address from outside the US...

Perhaps I should have made sure I used a different proxy as I was logged in at work and the order probably wouldn't have come from an NZ IP address anyway... unfortunately not a US IP however.

I used BuyUSA.co.nz and the order was accepted with an NZ credit card and billing address (but US shipping address) and got the e-mail confirmation of my order at about 17:20.

I paid via paypal and used a USA billing address, so guessing it's either an inability to fulfill orders or a red flag due to the shipito address or NZ ip...

Kind of dumb to do it by IP - this means a US citizen on holiday can't order from B&N, but someone from China that knows how to use a proxy can get one?

I'm guessing it might be just too much demand and their systems can't cope. Just checked my online banking and there seems to be a change in my credit card balance, which is almost a perfect match for the converted amount in NZD, so it looks like some sort of credit card hold on my account from the order placed on Monday. Start of the business day in NYC in a few minutes, so perhaps something will happen soon one way or another.
