Thats my concern. If this is going to happen to many/most TouchPads, and considering its an EOLed product, what will be the possible remedy 6 months down the track?

Thats why I'm keen to see how serious the crack actually is. It may well be the case that it may not be fixable by HP, as they no longer have the available hardware to replace the casing, or the unit entirely.

A very important question related to this, in case my device needs to go away for repair/refurb:
I know that a backup of the device will preserve applications etc, but will it save all of my (wife's) unlocked Angry Birds levels? :)

Has anyone discovered a way of getting network access with the Touchpad other than via WiFi? Our office uses WPA-Enterprise PEAP and the touchpad won't connect to it (not for want of trying, a lot of mucking around with wpa_supplicant files etc).

Looks like the Bluetooth on it is nigh useless, anyway to perhaps get USB tethering working to my Android phone?

Quite amazed how poor the wifi implementation is on the device given that the TouchPad webpage goes on about how it can be used in Enterprise networks. (As long as you have one of the small subset of compatible configurations).

Can't get it to connect to Bluetooth to my Galaxy S2 at all, looks like it deliberately won't connect to non-WebOS phones though.

Android is looking like more of a goer.

Will double check our network settings tomorrow, as we use PEAP, and my TP connects.

ok HP NZ finally got back too me, I asked about replacement she advised it would be swaped for a brand new unit, so I'm packing this up now and courier is on its way to pick it up. I then asked directly that if the unit would be a refurb and she reassured me that it would be a new one, they have to order one from overseas as the replacement... Skeptical but will see what happens... Apparently my new one will be here by Friday ......here's hoping

Wireless - We have a Cisco Wireless system, and use WPA2 (AES) with 802.1x (PEAP / MS-CHAP v2), pointing to RADIUS (Microsoft IAS). We have a publicly-issued security certificate. I can connect to it without issue.

Speaker crack - Mine appears to be getting worse, and is almost at the point of lifting up / snapping off, so I will call HP next week, once ekud updates us that all is well with the process :)  EDIT - Hope I don't need the orignal box to send it back, mine got destroyed...

Nah I don't think original box is an issue, they did want my charger etc unsure why considering the issue is with the crack... I guess covering all bases, I'll be kinda pissed if they play it off as not a bad enuff crack, mine is very small however I can (when I try) to separate it, I have sent mine away in original box etc so I hope that my new one comes in a box etc,

I'm very skeptical...

Have found 2 cracks on my touchpad
one by the usb going down
one by the earphone going towards screen.

Not to panicked but curious as it seems fairly common whats to stop the replacement cracking?

Not kept in case put in soft pouch

Preware is fine, as long as you haven't over clocked
