Topic # 91650 18-Oct-2011 11:33

This is the first time I've seen this happening with a Windows-based device. Basically I receive an email notification from Geekzone every time someone posts or update a posts. This reaches the Exchange server and is then moved to a folder.

On Outlook I read some messages and mark everything as read after a while.

Since yesterday I've noticed the read status is not being correctly synchronised between the Windows Phone device and the Exchange.

This only happened for me before with Android-based devices. I've used Exchange to Windows devices synchronisation since 2003 and never seen this - from Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC Phone Edition through Windows Mobile 5.0, Windows Mobile 6, Windows Mobile 6.5, Windows Phone 7, Windows Phone NoDo... But Windows Phone Mango is the first I've seen doing this.

Anyone having similar experiences?

Yes, I understand there may be a couple minutes delay, but talking about 700 messages out of sync over three days.

I sent myself an email at 1.08PM and also recieved an email from someone else at work. Read it on outlook 2010 and by 1.15pm, the emails were gone/read on the phone without me touching the phone. I did recieve another email at 1.15pm so that very well may have synced the read/unread messages on the phone. But it does works.

Just so you know, if your battery is below 20% and you have battery saver mode turned on (if not, I recommend it), push email syncs stop automatically and you will manually have to sync to check for new emails. May be this is why the read/unread sync is not happening on your phone because battery is below the 20% mark?

freitasm - as you are a heavy email user (I have seen your inboxes, you have a fetish for notifications of everything on GZ), is it possible you are hitting some limits of processing in WP7 ? Either by total volume in the account being checked, or the amount per day (hour/minute/second) that the phone is trying to cope with?

This is over a few days, with the Outlook client connected and the Windows Phone connected either via mobile data or WiFi.

Mobile Outlook update is manual, not automatic. It's something related to state. It could be related to volume as Tony suggested, but somehow I doubt it.

I still think there's a bug with state synchronisation in Mango.

Hang on, every message posted to GZ? Also, the only time I have seen something similar happen (not with WP7) is when folder structures change when the phone is offline.

i've been using mango with two exchange accounts, a hotmail account and a gmail account, and i've never had issues with state synchronization.

i also use subfolders pinned to start menu so i get unread counts on them.

this is the first i've heard of issues from anyone.
