weblordpepe: At the end of the day, this is another example of MS 'forcing' people to adopt a new standard using their marketing strength, whether it is superior or not. The same with the Zune....

At the risk of going off topic again. What's the problem with the Zune? What open standard is the dominant player in the digital media content market today? That's right - none. The iPod is not open at all. Why not complain about that?

You are welcome to play mp3 on the Zune, as you are to play with the iPod.

Microsoft is only required to create the drivers for their devices and their OS. If someone wants to connect to a Linux machine, well, be welcome, write the drivers... It looks like there are some people already running Linux on Zune anyway...

Sheesh...

Personally I dont think it sucks that much either (except for the DRM stuff that is which is basically all of it). There are other threads here that talk about the Zune though.

AFAIK there are no Zunes in New Zealand, so anything is just hearsay, without no first hand experience. And it seems that a lot of people write about things without experience - just because they don't like the brand behind the product.

Not the best thing to do...

You're right really. Although there has to be countless no-name little mp3 players that dont understand DRM. But anyways about the openGL thing.

Developers really just float towards whatever's the dominant platform as far as I can see. It would really be a shame to let OpenGL slip through the cracks. Im sure we can all think of examples of good technology that didnt make it. It's a shame the $$$ doesnt respect good code. Tongue out
