You're forgetting we always pay more for consoles, the exchange rate doesn't really seem to matter. My estimate $999NZD slightly cheaper than the PS3 when it first came out.

billgates: Pre-orders in UK are going for 399 pounds and US$499 (strong rumours) for North America. Suggests to me that it will sell here for $799 or $899 at most.

I am looking forward to the launch. Will be buying one. The kinect integration is even deeper throughout the Xbox One along with Bing. Kinect V2 has improved so much with this new release. Skype will be powering the Xbox Live game chat/party so audio quality will be greatly improved as well.

If it sells for $499 USD it should only be $700 NZD after exchange rate and GST

GST is now up to 15% so based on current FX rate it would be more than this

$499 USD = $611 NZD + 15% = $703 NZD

US $ has (fortunately or unfortunately depending on your POV) been increasing quite a bit this last week or so

Hopefully they will take the time to ensure that it works nicely in each country that they sell it in so that for us it works with Freeview, Sky etc. and doesn't rely on a whole bunch of technologies and services that only exist in the US.

I think I bought the XBOX 360 Pro version for $720 right when it came out.
If I remember correctly there was the Arcade version for $5xx and a package which included more games for $9xx.

Seeing as though the XBOX One has Kinect included as well though, it will probably be at least $800.

Since the Kinect is now essentially mandatory with the Xbox One I don't think you can really factor that into an inflated price. The Xbox One also has lesser specs than the PS4 so probably a bit cheaper to manufacture too. I think it will likely sell for $800 here but it'd be nice if it were a little more competitive.

Aussies always seem to get heavily ripped off even though their dollar is on par with the US

I laughed heartily at this Xbox One Reveal Highlights clip. Apologies if this has been posted before, didn't see it on any previous pages.

Cheers,
Joseph

I reckon we will probably see this priced between NZD899-999.00

I for one, will not be buying the next reiteration of this(or the PS4) for a long while yet...

Wow, seriosuly, a grand. You'd wanna hope that all the features work here properly for that much.

that is the weird thing.  based on the presentation, you would think that games are quite secondary to the xbox, with TV being by far the most important part.  However, given we dont even have Netflix here, let alone cable that will work for the passthrough function, the new Xbox just seems like it is going to be a big waste of time in NZ.  so to charge MORE in NZ for a product that has hugely reduced functionality seems highly retarded.

I'd expect that price to move a little bit once prices are announced.

I'd imagine there will be support for both SkyTV and Quickflix at some point, so I wouldn't rule it out just yet.
