I'd go for a 360, GTAIV comes at the same time on both BUT has extra content on 360.

360 Cool

cat-mince: I'd go for a 360, GTAIV comes at the same time on both BUT has extra content on 360.
Because it can't fit on the disc? I'm just saying this because that's what is being said although I prefer to wait and see rather than saying "Only the PS3 with teh blu-ray can fit GTAIV" (Yeah, bit of a contradiction there :S).

The thing is they're making 360 the LEAD platform for GTAIV so they'll have identical content on the discs, the downloadable Episodes are an additional exclusive bonus on top.

Plus there's only2 exclusive games worth getting for PS3 - MGS4 and FF13, if both those end up on 360 you'd be foolish to get a PS3.

Controller, Price, games - even add on a HD-DVD drive and it's STILL $200 cheaper than a PS3.

Hi Chr1sm

Once you get a 360, you will realise, how brilliant, they really are, the sheer graphics are fantasic and the smoothness of all games is unrealistic, and some of the titles are out of this world, but it would take me days to write a true review of my thoughts for the 360, but without a doubt, my fav console for a long time??/
I do have pS1, PS2 Chipped with Matrix Infinity 200 GB hard drive, Crystal Xbox version 1.6 Chipped, Xbox Black Version 1.1  Microsoft Xbox 360, premium edition, and i run  all my consoles through my digital Projector??? awesome, also not to forget the dolby digital surround system ??  take care
Ps save your dough, and buy a 360, you will never look back

i've done a fair bit of gaming on both, and my favourite is the PS3 with one exception, that is, online gaming. the PS3 is newer and so it doesn't have as many games as the 360 yet and the 360's online community is also more well established.

but picture quality and EVERYTHING else about the PS3 is better. you can upgrade the hard disk yourself easily, it is a SATA 2.5" disk hidden behind a removeable plastic panel. you can install Linux on it without voiding warranties, mod chipping, etc. and the PS3's graphics leave the 360 in the runner-up spot.

another thing is media. I still use the (original) xbox media center for watching movies because the 360's media player sucks. the PS3 has no such trouble playing XviD and DivX movies with a (Linux-based, havnt tried the others yet) media player installed. the PS3 is also the cheapest blu-ray HDMI player AFAIK. although I wouldn't say the PS3 itself is cheap, since it does much more than a 360 it is worth considering.

I still have a Nintendo NES...(nostalgic enternainment system???)...there's something about Mario...

I have a slim PS2 but I have it more because I had a whole bunch of PSX games and no console to play them on as my psx died from years of abuse. I think the only games played in recent times were Spy vs Spy and Golf because as far as consoles are concerned I would only ever play them multiplayer with friends. At uni my psx had two multitaps and 8 original controllers, playing micro machines, soccer, cricket etc. was the only time it ever got played and group gaming like that was good times.

Each to his own, I'm just more inclined to use a mouse and click than a controller these days, but the NES gets the dust blown of it a couple of times a year :)

Hello people

We all buy console because off many different reasons, personally i normally buy a console depending not only on the Vfm (value for money) attraction , but also hope that the chosen console ifs going to last a few years or so and not disappear off the face of the earth, like some of the past consoles, also there is the fact that some people have more funds for picking a console and do not have to worry too much about the cost, especially if a young person gets a console bought, they are usually happy, i personally think the cost of the Sony PS3 is way too expensive, but saying that i can understand where others are coming from, stating that with the PS3 being the new kid on the block, but i have noticed over the past few weeks, there have been quite a lot of people that have been unhappy with teething problems, on their sophisticated high tech piece of kit, but don't quote me on it, the point i am making is, that if you can afford the PS3, then by all means purchase one, and be HAPPY, because that is the main point.

If you think about it also, years ago, we could purchase a whole new console, and an amount of games, for what we now have to pay for one game, on almost all formats.

These are just general points, and every single person will have and are entitled to express a different opinion or comment.

I think choosing a games console always comes down to what game you will want to play.
360 has a history of having lots of pc-like and FPS games. And there's plenty of stories about red rings of death. If you like western games, you'd probably be fine with a 360. But japanese developers will probably choose the PS3 or the Wii when it comes to publishing a game. Also, even though the PS3 is expensive but consider that their online strategy is free.

I'd say wait til july (if it is not too late) after E3, and then you can decide.

In the meanwhile... buy a Wii ;)

Hi Laughing
I think that is a fair generalisation, and to be truthful yes many people have many different reason's for picking a console, for myself sometimes, i think about VFM,(value for money) but it is also wise to have in mind, that you also want to have a console that has a little futureproof feature, hence the reason my girlfiriend bought me my xbox 360 (wow) for christmas 06, and it is a fantastic console, it has great graphic's, and i really like the pop up tab, when someone in your friend list come's online, all feature's make conole's much better, and make the consumer happy, and there are positive and negative comment's  i can make but it is  a good console, and imporve's with age, the new inbuilt messenger is a good tool, if you like that sort of thing, but another good tool for the xbox 360??? being constantly in touch with new friends? .

I have just also treat myself over the past week and purchased the much hyped PS3, and i have got to say it this baby has a big wow factor in my book's, it has been awesome from the first day i got it, setup was a breeze, much easier than when i set up my 360 for the first time, but i remember that all the game's conole's have good and bad feature's or error's and it all take's time to work out
..
The Sony PS3 is sure a really good and very well built piece of kit, and it is very very future proof, and a lot of different media/peripheral's can be easily hooked up to the USb  (Universal Serial Bus) 2.0 speed, which is really really fast, i have successfully added two different bluetiooth headset's and also keyboard's are really simple to set up and use??? for the serious gamer's that prefer keyboard and mouse, for the ultimate FPS (first Person Shooter's).

For myself i love the sixaxis joypad (although tbh i miss the rumble feature) but i shall manage, i have also managed to charge the PS3s controller on my xbox 360?? with no problem's??

Let us not forget the endless possibilitie's with the blue ray player>?? Worth the price ??? A decent blue ray player will cost you a lot more than the actual price of the Sony PS3, but with the PS3 it is a whole new multimedia ball game??
Be the envy of all your friend's and explore the Sony PS3

I am very happy with my PS3, and just a quick note the gaming is another thing, fantastic and online gaming on the Play Sation network is free.

Microsoft online account is £39.99 per annum.

congrats on your purchase :)

I'm a devoted nintendo fan, but a couple of years ago, I realised how much I was missing. So I bought a ps2 and I'm very happy with it. When it comes to MS and consoles... dont know, not sure I agree with their marketing and releases each year. If you add that to the fact that a high % of 360s break, I'm closer to buy a PS3 in spite of its price.

and I will say again, wait til e3 this july. Exclusive PS3 games will be announced and released in 2007.

Hi polg

Yes, i have never got into Nintendo myself, but i have a friend who has one, and no matter when i see him, he has his Nintendo with him, not too sure which model he has, because tbh (to be honest) it doe's not interest me, but as i stated we are all different.

Could you do me a favour, if you spot anything interesting at the show, regarding PS3 info or for that matter xbox 360 could you possibly send me a link or something, so i can benefit from the info?? plz

We all sometime's make mistake's when choosing console's, but also that is one sure way of learning about different companie's and their overall advertising and promoting of their games/hardware software, and because of all the different big companie's like MS and SCEE, they are both wanting to have the biggest and best part of the overall console market, and so deploy some very different hard selling tactic's to try and out do each other, this has a bad effect on the actual consumer's overall decision.

I like to write a little about certain big companie's i am sometime's a little confused with it all myself, but understand a lot of it, and companie,s to not get big and earn lot's of money, by giving you anything for free, that is a fact of life, they are only out for their benefit, and tbh sometime's some of the companie's after care service is either crap/dismal, or you end up speaking with an automated service (dummy machine) and that is certainly not good enough??

i remember sending an email to MS, about a certain issue with my xbox 360, it took them over a week to answer, now if you consider that email, or electronic mail, it the actual term is the fastest in the world, it arrives in literally second's but it took an advisor from MS a week to reply to the email??? pathetic and bad PR

I have had my moan, and now i am going back to my Resistance FOM (fall of man)
Take care polgLaughing
