Created for Owners to discuss their new Next Generation Consoles.

I was quite concerned at reports here related to being banned for swearing on Skype.

http://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/1rd0su/psa_for_upload_studio_do_not_use_any_profanity/

I am very impressed with the kinect, and the voice commands, I have had 2-3 crashes which I don't think I've had any or many at least on either of my two prior generation consoles.

I find the sticks on the controller overly sensitive, especially playing Fifa 14 etc.

Other than that, I see a lot of potential.

I got an XBOX One on the 22nd from Mighty Ape. Very happy with it, seems to run very quiet, games look great, the controller fits my hand perfectly :)

Great console! OS still needs a bit of work, but that's to be expected with a launch console.

I don't have small hands but I do seem to prefer sony's controllers.

I'm making fast friends with my Xbox One, but I'm disappointed with Ryse. If I could go back in time I'd re-do my E3 vox pop about being so excited for it.

Tonight I'll get started on CoD: Ghosts and... probably lose too much time getting popped by drop-shotters.

I like the console, the OS is a quirky beast but easier to come to grips with than it looks. I wish voice commands were available in NZ from day one.

Those impulse triggers are, and have been throughout the development cycle since the global reveal in May, amazing to me.

Loving it so far, but having trouble connecting smartglass app (android) to the console.

Any ideas?

I haven't tried SmartGlass yet, but if I check back in later saying something like "buried my tablet in the wall, nobody pity the fool" then you'll know how I got on.

Adjust your console settings and set it to Australia. As long as you annunciate your words clearly, Kinect can recognise what you are saying.

I've been using voice commands since release and they are really well done. Everything is much easier to get to compared to using a controller and waiting for menus to load.

My console wants to play for the Kiwis when it grows up...

...nah. I'll jump the ditch and test it out when I'm home.

Loving the Kinect integration in the OS and certain games. Controller is godly.

Is there an error?

The app just works on my Nexus 5

Make sure that both devices are on the same LAN network

Also are you using Smartglass for Xbox One? There are 2 apps in the Play Store

It was my understanding that one didn't need to keep the CD in the Xbox one to play games, however, I find it keeps telling me to buy the game if I try and play it without the CD. Game appears to be installed ok - anyone able to play CD games without the CD in the drive?

I believe that was when the system had to check in online every 24 hours.   After MS changing that back to how it should be you will only be able to play without a disk in the drive if you have a digital copy...

I wonder how long they will last with that policy - keep CD in drive. Do they understand its the 21st century and not the 1980s.

Wonder if we will get DLNA functionality that is supposed to arrive.

You obviously didn't follow the dramas when the X1 was first revealed. The gaming community went crazy when they found out the box needed to doing a daily online check. So Microsoft listened to the fans and took that policy out. However, due to the potential of piracy it also meant that disks had to stay in the drive in order to play. Can't really have it both ways.

I did follow the news for it, however, I don't agree with the solution on the principle that the Windows OS has allowed people to not have the disk in for years. Given it is the same content producers and same distribution medium and there are digital versions there is no technical reason.

Realistically, if I put a CD in the machine that is online I would have expected it to go "Oh, there is a digital version of this game, I'll link your license to it (CD ought to be proof of purchase)".
