@qyiet sent you a pm with my gamer tag, happy to play BF4.

Have any of you guys checked your data usage from online playing, with XB1, Ive been playing BF4 online, and Forza 5 probably for about 4 hours spread over an evening of both, Forza just doing career, not online, and the odd upload to skydrive video, although they seems quite small really.

I know it downloads some content, and Ive been turning off the Xbox as well, ( as in fully so i think, energy saver mode) its using about 1gb an hour, roughly given my usage seems to be about 3.5gb-4gb a day, and nothing else in the house in on.

TwoSeven: Technically it should be cable of doing so as the new Kinect is able to track finger position. However, I am not sure if it can see inanimate objects very well as infrared wouldn't be that ideal and a dark room would make normal vision difficult.

Realistically the Xbox would need to know who was holding the device (touch sensor on the device or quick voice command to say who - for example "Xbox change player" for example).

It is a shame we cant use our mobile phones as controllers via the Xbox application.

Smart glass app lets you use your phone like a controller

Have not been able to get it to work with Forza 5.  Can start the game, but when it says 'press A' to continue nothing happens (IPhone version).

Looking at getting the Xbox One for my kids as a combine Xmas birthday present.

They currently have an Xbox 360, can they play old games on this? or atleast get cheaper upgrades?
Also does the console come with any games at all?
Cheapest place to buy at present?

Sorry for the questions guys, I know nothing about the system and don't want to ask the kids.

The XBOX One is not backwards compatible.
My Day One edition had Fifa '14, some I've seen online come with NBA 2K14
From what I've seen they seem to be $749 in most stores.  However I'm sure if you hunt around you'll find one cheaper :)

Could someone please advise what the audio is when playing xbox one games. Is it Dolby Digital 5.1 like on the Xbox 360 or do you get high definition audio, such as DTS HD Master Audio or Dolby True HD audio?

As far as my experience goes, if you have a device plugged into the HDMI IN, then you will only get stereo - there does not appear to be a digital in for sound (but I have not really looked).  For sound that is generated by the XB1, I have an SPDIFF connected to my home theatre and get DTS (I believe 5.1 but I have a 6.1 setup). My home theatre box does not support HDMI connections so I couldn't say what the HDMI Output only puts out.

rockzcm: does XBOX one support miracast?

Mirrorcast is required on both the sending and receiving devices and comes with the Halswell chipset (Wireless display 3.5) - so for example my Surface Pro (Win 8.1) supports it.  I have looked on all of the XB1 packaging and I cannot see a mirrorcast logo anywhere, neither can I find an option in any of the sub-menus.  Also cant seem to find any information if it will be supported in the new future.

However, since the XB1 has built in WiFi-N, it should be able to at least support some form of Wifi-direct (if not as good as mirrorcast), and I am thinking that the smartglass app and the gamepad controllers may be working using this technology.

?

Surface Pro 1 is running a Ivy Bridge CPU. It's not really the CPU that matters anymore (well it does, the minimum has to be Sandy Bridge), it's the WiDi card inside the machine. Most of the mid range and high end 2013 machines support WiDi/Miracast. You will find plenty of machines running the latest Haswell CPU but they will prob have a WiFi card that does not supports WiDi/Miracast.

My Lenovo X1 Carbon touch running the Ivy Bridge CPU with the latest Intel WiFi card supports WiDi/Miracast. So does the Surface 2 running on the ARM architecture.

Xbox One actually has an 802.11ac capable card inside it as revealed in a teardown that supports NFC, Bluetooth and ofcourse the already enabled 2.4GHz & 5GHz dual band WiFi. The 802.11ac, NFC and Bluetooth I guess will be enabled later in a future update when the drivers are ready. They can also add/enable Miracast support anytime when they wish as the controller uses via WiFi Direct to connect to the Xbox One.

Sweet, disabling IPV6 in my router has set my NAT type to "open" so that's all good. Just wondering does everybody have the 3 IR blasters in the Kinect clearly visible? For some reason it kinda bothers me..

Yeh, me too, i think it depends how light your room is as well, It can see very well in the dark,  if you look at the end on the controller you can see some too, and they flicker, battery lasts ages though so must be very low power.

I have a really bad experience with my Xbox one.

As I am relocating to asia, so prepaid my xbox one before the release and and ask my friend to pick it up and send it to me. the 2nd day I got the xbox one, the network module has a failure. Now I can not use it at all.

Contacted local xbox support, they don't support it at the moment as it won't get released for another year.
Contacted xbox one support in US, they asked me to send it back to my retailer which is MightyApe or to their shipping agent Fedex Trade Network at Texas, US. Both option would cost me another $150NZD at least and I also need to pay the shipping cost after they finish repairing. That's probably totally $400-500NZD, I can buy a PS4 instead seriously.
