xiaohan: I have a really bad experience with my Xbox one.

As I am relocating to asia, so prepaid my xbox one before the release and and ask my friend to pick it up and send it to me. the 2nd day I got the xbox one, the network module has a failure. Now I can not use it at all.

Contacted local xbox support, they don't support it at the moment as it won't get released for another year.
Contacted xbox one support in US, they asked me to send it back to my retailer which is MightyApe or to their shipping agent Fedex Trade Network at Texas, US. Both option would cost me another $150NZD at least and I also need to pay the shipping cost after they finish repairing. That's probably totally $400-500NZD, I can buy a PS4 instead seriously.

It's unfortunate you are having these issues, but you may just have to stump up. It's obviously far from ideal your device was faulty, but in the country of it's purchase it would be covered under warranty free of charge so it's not really a reflection on Microsoft that you need to pay to freight it to be fixed.

But I purchased my Surface RT in Hong Kong, and found faulty with it after few months when I am back to New Zealand. Microsoft Australia organized a free pickup via UPS and send me a new unit after 5 days. Free of charge at all. The Surface RT was in about same price as a Xbox One.

Surface RT is available globally though compared to Xbox One's coverage. None of the Asian countries have an Xbox One officially available.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Yes, but at least your local branch should help you deal with their US colleagues, not just say we don't support it.
Even they support it, that just means, we will transfer you back to US support team and they will organize it.
It's their faulty to not QA their release product carefully or properly. If my console have probably after few months playing, OK, could be my problem, but Day Two, are you kidding me, Microsoft?

Ended up buying a Xbox One Day One Edition for $800 including Fifa 14, Assassins Creed IV and Forza 5 Day One Edition

I noticed that NZGameShop were selling 12 months of XBL for $50 but this was for the 360. Does anyone know

1) Are NZGameShop Legit?
2) Can I use XBL code for 360 on the Xbox One?

Thanks

I got the live xbox 360 for 50 dollars and worked fine on xbox one from nzgameshop, they emailed the code within 12 hours, I know a few people that use them over here and yes they are legit, you just have to wait a while like a week or so for the games to arrive. So if you are not in a hurry the.n you can save some some money.

NZGAMESHOP.com are legit.  I've spent around 6-700$ with them, there service is top notch as are their prices.
There should be no issue with XBL Gold for the 360 or one since you can use the same account on both consoles.

Thanks for the confirmation guys :) Just placed an order for 24 Months of XBL @ $98.

Considering EBGames etc are selling 12 Months @ $78, I think this is a great deal!!! Now to wait for my Xbox One to arrive.

I will post my Gamertag when I think of one :D

Kinect floods the room in IR light, other room lighting is irrelevant.

With due respect that simply isn't the case. The detection in low light is nothing compared to the lit room detection.

Try and get your Kinect to read a bar code in the dark, or try and do the built in fitness app in low light.

Don't have a barcode handy but I turned off the lights, turned down the TV brightness and did a late night workout. The Xbox was able to detect me correctly, changed colours as I worked out and had the correct sparks flying from the picture of me (got 4/5 stars!).

If you want a quick way to see the night vision hit the settings page, select Kinect then "What else does Kinect see?". This will switch between normal, infrared and thermal camera modes. Note how Kinect is able to detect and follow you moving about the room regardless of room lighting.

It is my understanding that the Kinect uses the IR for detecting people as well as the normal camera, hence it works in low light. IR doesn't work for inanimate objects because they don't produce heat patterns, so a bar-code would be difficult to read.

Now can anyone tell me what's going on with my xbox one?
Last night I was trying my last luck with this console, it works only with ethernet but not wireless.
This morning I tried again, it works with wireless.
I don't know whether the network component inside the console is loosely connected. At least I don't want to believe there is a ghost inside it or Microsoft was playing with me.
Hopefully, it will keep working when I get home today.

Have you considered it might be something as simple as IP addresses clashing. Im not sure the X1 would alert you to such a thing. just a thought.
