johnnysavs: Does the SEA server have lower pings than 170ms at all?

hahahaha. no. I used to get 140ms but Wargaming basically sends everything via Japan these days so 200+ is usual.
To get fast pings on SEA you need an ISP that has a network that goes all the way to Singapore via Perth, which no NZ network has.

Hoping Fibre will elevate some of the ping and latency issues in the future.

Fibre will only cut the first-hop ping times, nothing more. I already get minimal first-hop on VDSL, UFB won't help at all.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Amosnz: I don't play nearly as much as I used to but have about 5k battles.

You should grind that IS-8 and get the IS-7 - it's my default Clan Wars tank.
I have the M48 - don't play it much at all (I also have the M60)

If you want a fun tank to play, try the tier4 Marder 38T. It's an amazing little TD...

I've done the research grind for the M48 but the 6mill credits is a roadblock.  IS-8 still needs the Tier X gun, so the IS-7 is a fair way away.

When I have been playing I've been mainly playing around T6 researching other lines.  Mediums or arty tend to be my preference, I've tried TD's a few times but I can't adapt.

I got Astrill to setup a VPN link between their NZ and SG servers, that would regularly give me 160ms, but I think one of their upstream providers changed some routing and it now goes via japan at 230ms.  I havent logged a ticket to see if it can be changed though, Astrill are pretty good like that.

Currently I get low 170's by using a Brisbane based Astrill server as it still routes traffic via telstraglobal.net (SMW3 cable), but this adds about 30ms extra by going AKL - SYD - BNE - SYD.

I'm changing from VDSL to UFB soon (waiting for install date) but also changing to a local ISP who *may* have better control over their routing.  I'm only expecting a ~5ms difference on the first hop though.

Nice, hopefully WG dont touch anything and the SMW3 stays up.

Spark VDSL was still routing me via Japan (250+) and with the VPN I'd get 170, but packetloss would usually be higher.

Hey Privateer,

Feel free to add myself to your contacts list, and we'll platoon up. I use teamspeak with some regulars. Trying to get some more good player kiwis into a NA west clan.

my nick is BadDynamite. I also watch Jingles, and for the best lessons I enjoy Quickbaby on youtube.

MM does affect the teams but with good communication and good teamwork you can actually overcome most XVM odds ;)

Will do, however, be warned, I tend to play at odd times :)

If you're looking for a clan maybe mine will suit ... The Older Gamers (ToG). They have a presence in loads of games & ppl from all over the world, incl Kiwi's.

Thanks for that Privateer. I can comfortably say I am definitely in that club.

Actually looking at this NA West server, Oceania based clan. Looking at playing Strongholds on a regular basis so this could be promising.

Run by kiwinugget

Only NZ based Clan I have found so far with more than 50 members.

I know there are a few kiwis on SEA, but they tend to be new school, vs old school players.

What do you think of Star Citizen?

With Doop, they are great guys, but very rare that I can do strongholds with them. I am most mornings and every other Evening, so finding a NA West clan who play strongholds is very tricky.

I'm in Ballz on SEA, and quite a few of us closer to 40 than 30. The leader lives in Otago.

Whoops I mean in terms of playing the game, not age.

I had two chances to transfer to SEA, but needed the lag issue sorted before moving servers. Now I wish I had but I might have given up by then.

Have you played NA before at all MattR?

Yep. I started in Dec 2011 on NA, and transferred over when SEA first started.
