Ah the advantages of working from home ;) Think I'll take the rest of the day off hehe... and it's out now!

There's a very cool animation before the main menu to quickly explain the history of the witchers (i.e. "At the dawn of time..." type deal) if you are fresh to the story it's helpful... now to really dig into this game :)

Hows everyone finding it?

FPS is all over the show but its nothing to be up in arms about. I found the keyboard and mouse controls to be less than ideal, felt off so im trying with an Xbox controller.

Same as you. At times, FPS is buttery smooth, then there might be a cutscene which breaks it down to 20FPS.
I'm also not enjoying the controls - but I did expect that. I had to turn the sensitivity on my mouse WAY down otherwise moving the camera was just horrible.

Gameplay so far I've enjoyed though =)

Its good to see I'm.not the only one and maybe I'll turn down the mouse sensitivity also as I don't really want to use a controller on my PC. I think that's what felt so janky, felt like I kept over running things.

I didn't get to play too much last night, but I also noticed framerate issues (which I put down to it still installing in the background - perhaps I was mistaken). There also seem to be "loading screen tips" however they disappear after half a second, while it's still loading!

I'm on a PS4.

I went straight for a 360 controller over keyboard/mouse, I always prefer the analog sticks for third person games.
So no issues with control for me, apart from the one annoyance where looking around on horseback automatically spins the camera back to forward-looking view too quick. Makes looking in a direction other than the one you're riding toward difficult. I don't see that being changed in a patch either, oh well.

I really like the combat on hard difficulty, you've really got to use everything at your disposal. I attempted at least five times to kill a group of bandits, trying different tactics until I found a way (killing the archers first, then watching the melee attacks carefully and parrying them while not getting surrounded, plus using elixirs).

Performance wise it's about what I expected, Hairworks kills 10-15fps but it's just so pretty I don't mind playing at 45fps for the most part. Agreed with previous comments it does drop down to 20fps during some (but not all) cutscenes for a few seconds. Mildly annoying, but it will get ironed out with a patch soon I bet.

More troublesome was the two total freezes I had when equipping consumable items in the inventory. Had to quit and load an autosave. Luckily only lost around 5mins since the autosaves are pretty frequent.

Otherwise I'm having a blast. Hunted down the Griffon from all the promo trailers, as well as a noonwraith for some coin... and scored some sweet loot from the corpses of those pesky bandits!

My BF is playing on PS4 and he said the same. I also didnt get to play much, I spent 3 hours doing audio mixing for a podcast, then I OC'd my GPU and it crashed , took apart my PC, rearranged some fans then by the time I actually started palying it was 10:30. Hoping to get more done tonight!

I am really enjoying it. Witcher 1 and 2 Combat ruined the game for me, I gave up half way through, but I can see me sticking with this longer. It's a huge game, and it's quest system is something I can really get my teeth into. Healing is good, I find games that make it hard to heal really stupid.
So far pretty impressed.

I havent got to play much because of life

But what I have played I really went hard out, spend a decent amount of time just trying to get the ingredients to make swallow for the injured woman in the first mission. I love that about a game.

Oh I totally forgot about her! I told the alchemist that I'd heal her too. Checked my quest log and turns out she died because of my forgetfulness. Sad one eh! Be sure to heal her before leaving White Orchard

just played through the prologue last night.  Seems like it's going to be fun, but the combat didn't feel especially great.

Definitely noticed slowdown on the cutscenes/closeups,  so might need to turn the graphics down a wee bit.

This will probably help somewhat:

My biggest take away in regards to combat is that it requires thinking and strategy unlike some games where you just need to hack about. When I wanted to kill some drowners that where above my level I died when I took them all on. So I tried to peel one off and then set the trap. Used the blast to keep them at a distance etc
