The Rainbow Six: Siege beta is now available to download in the PS and XBox stores.

I personally am looking to try this game, looks beautiful and there is NO SEASON PASS, all maps and content is free. Might end up getting this instead of Star Wars: Battlefront.

Really enjoying this game on the PS4.  You need to play this game with sensible people with mics, so far there's been no shortage of these types of players.  There are a few server issues at the moment but I guess these will be worked out over the next few weeks.  Fortunately there are servers in Sydney and I'm getting a tidy 38ms ping most times with my VDSL connection from Wellington.  People in Melbourne and the Gold coast were getting slightly worse pings!  We're so lucky to have such great internet in NZ and connectivity internationally and its only going to get better.  I wonder if my pings will reduce slightly when I move to fibre next month?  Of course, every single one of my deaths has had nothing to do with ping ;)

This game is full of absolute heart stopping tension.  I love the way things turn to custard so quickly.   It really is a case of "Everyone has a plan 'till they get punched in the mouth." (Tyson)

Thanks for the feedback, I was really keen to buy it but worried because I was planning to play casual thus not joining a clan and probably wouldn't have anyone to play with. This worried me as most people would be clans/friends and using mics and making it difficult to win for randoms. Is this the case?

Also I found my connection to improve a lot on fibre, I went from cable (8ms ping on speednet) to fibre (1-3ms ping on speednet) and noticed it makes a big difference to gaming. For examplke Rocket League (Love that game) I used to lag before in games with US people but it is way better now. It also depends, which provider you go with as I noticed from tests MyRepublic (Brands themselves as the gaming fibre) actually have some of the highest latency/pings but Spark, Orcon etc have some good pings and latency.

I didn't really enjoy the game when I was in at the earlier beta, it has promise but lacked the critical elements of the earlier game. I prefer single player campaigns.

Leo, no problem if you're not in a clan or have many friends online.  People are pretty friendly in this game in my experience and in the 50 or so games played, there's only been one incident of TKing and plenty of good banter and support.  And if you want to play with people, most are receptive to friend requests.  Reminds me of Left4Deadin the early days.  Lone wolfing it is ok too, sometimes I get sick of talking and just want to do my own thing.  I suspect I'll still be playing this in six months time, maybe longer.

Wow, what amazing pings you have.  Can't wait to get fibre.
