Lots of discussion here around sometimes getting 2 candies instead of the usual 1 from your buddy.

Did anyone purchase the PoGo Plus accessory?

After watching a video online, I went from "maybe" to "yes", but Dunedin EB sold out and couldn't provide any information on a possible restock.

I dont put games on my phone I use for other stuff, and they have decided that the rootedness of my chinese cheapie phone is a problem now, so will not be playing any more.

If I had actually put real money into it, I would be super-p'd off right now, as opposied to minorly. Total crap for them to do that after launch after people have been playing for a while.

What's the NZ retail price? About $70 I'm guessing? I saw some on Trade Me going for $100+.

I know of someone who had that issue with a refurbished phone.  Not rooted that she knows of yet the game has decided that it won't run on her phone now.  Seems a bit of a weird decision to make though.

It's not too uncommon for games to refuse to run on rooted phones, it's an anti-cheating measure.

Thinking of getting an Apple Watch 2, in which case I'll be able to run the game on that (well, collecting Pokestops and spotting Pokemon, at least) but if I decide not to get one, the PoGo Plus might be on my Christmas list.

Retail is $70NZ (and only $50AU)

I just purchased one direct from Nintendo AU/NZ via their Australian eBay account. $65AU shipped ($70NZ) and here between Friday and Tuesday.

Ooh, should get mine in Aussie then, if I decide to forego the Apple Watch. Is anyone currently using Pokemon Go on the watch and can comment on how well it works?

I would be very surprised if anyone outside of a possible (and probably closed) beta has the Apple Watch app for Pokemon..

Oh, okay, still a few weeks away yet! I've been watching AliA using the new PoGo plus. It appears that it can pick up Pokestops from a much wider range than the phone. Given my main issues are running out of great/ultra balls and raspberries, and forgetting to turn on the game on my phone when I walk around, the PoGo plus would be very handy. I also hope it'll save some battery, since you can leave your phone locked.

Got my Plus on Friday and been using it over the weekend.

Being able to spin stops and being able to attempt to catch Pokemon when driving is the biggest selling point for me - these are things I wouldn't normally be able to get.

Certainly has its flaws, but if you know those going in then I recommend

Being able to spin stops and being able to attempt to catch Pokemon when driving is the biggest selling point for me - these are things I wouldn't normally be able to get.

Wife got one last week. So far the experience highlights are:

Pros:

- Very good when you are not paying attention to the game. If you are just walking on the street and don't want to focus on the gameplay, get some extra items and eventually a pokemon without putting any effort to it, just press the button on your wrist.

- Hatch the eggs MUCH FASTER than without the bracelet. Not sure about what's going on there, maybe the Reddit guys will have some answers for that.

- Allows you to keep the game in background on your iPhone. I don't know how Pokemon Go runs on Androids but on iPhones you must have the screen open all the time to keep the game counting distance and poping up pokemons. With the bracelet you can keep the game active in background, switch off the screen or use other apps if you like. (this is not the explanation for the previous bullet, the bracelet will hatch eggs faster even when the game screen is open all the time.

Cons:

- Pokestops won't drop new eggs when poked (pun unintended) via bracelet. Maybe a negative compensation for the faster hatching...?

- If you are catching a pokemon with the bracelet, it will always use the standard pokeball and won't let you use a razzberry. For pokemons that are hard to catch, this is a big disadvantage as you can miss it easily.

- Not so good when in places full of Pokestops and Pokemons as you don't get to chose exactly what is your priority.

- If you are playing actively, better to keep the bracelet off and focus on what's on the screen. For instance, if a Pokemon spawns around you, it will be picked up by the bracelet BEFORE it shows up on your screen, that means you won't be able to use a greatball or ultraball or razzberry.

- Gets jammed when you try to pair with a second device. If there's more than one player in the family, maybe you should buy more than one bracelet.

As of around 11am today, new spawn locations have been added (I now get two Pokemon at :22 and :27 past the hour while at work, nothing before) and "nests/frequent spawn locations" have changed.

I note that I do get eggs from PokeStops when spinning them from the Plus, though you do not get them if your bag is full

I have noticed in my testing around home that my Plus almost never picks up any of the PokeStops in my street - I have 5 in 200/300 metres and in a cluster heavy location, it will skip/miss a few
But as they are all bonus for me, then missing a few while driving isn't an issue.

This is still a puzzle for me. The bag is not full, I'd get all other items but no eggs through PG+ and plenty of eggs through iPhone...
