Has anyone else been experiencing a game freeze when attempting to access character stats?

Started after 0.55.0 Update

Looks like a widespread bug affecting 60ish android devices and no sign  of resolution yet.

So am playing the game without pressing the avatar button in bottom left. Not the best experience but passable.

I was worried that XP / distance wasn't being logged but was wrong as hatches and leveling still happened.

 Yup same here

I'm all good on an S7.  No freezing on the character stats screen which is good as I regularly check the walking stats.

Which devices? Got two different Sony's operating correctly.

Working fine on my Nexus 5X.

I caught a Porygon this afternoon, that's the fifth so far.

I hope this event gets me a Chansey as I haven't found one yet.

No Porygon here but we did grab a Chansey on the way home from school. It spawned right at the top of our street. It seems that the spawns are biome-related (there's a lot of moaning about it on Reddit), which is a shame, as it means we'll generally get lots more of what is most common for our areas. Thankfully all the Chanseys I've seen are suburban - my first was right outside the house and I've seen two others on the sightings around Glenfield and Unsworth Heights - so they'll probably spawn around here a bit. It looks like Auckland city is the place for Porygon so I might have to go overseas (the Harbour Bridge) this weekend!

If that's the case then it's good news for me; I live in Glenfield and work on Constellation Drive. I caught my Porygon at Constellation and saw another one on the sightings there.

Does anyone know if Exeggcute is one of the increased spawns?

Got home yesterday, let the game refreshed and saw a Porygon down the road - raced down there, threw an ultra ball and it fled
That was my first wild sighting, the only other one I have came from a lucky egg hatch. Hopefully I find more in the next week.

After clearing out my unneeded Pokemon the night before the event started, I managed to add 200 Pokemon to my storage yesterday and removed just a tad over 200 last night.. All those candy!!

Exeggcute is one of the pink pokemon and spawns have increased during this event. I have now noticed that Poliwag's nose is a bit more pinker than usual, but have not noticed an increased spawn rate since it has always been common around my area.

I've caught 8 Porygon so far today, all from the lured Pokestop outside my work in Constellation Drive.

Octagon, Dunedin is proving to be Exeggcute and Porygon lite; tons of Jiggypuff and Lickitung with a few Clefairy thrown in

6 hour lures, regardless of what they actually pull in are awesome for just getting Pokemon - from 7am until 2pm I have caught an additional 125 Pokemon (walk to work, lure and lunch walk) and can only catch 65 more before I hit the bag limit.

Hopefully the weekend will bring some good luck with a few Pokemon I don't normally find around work or home so I can maximise the candy harvest

Looks like I need to head on down to Constellation Drive! Although I've not done too badly so far at home today - two Chanseys caught from the comfort of my office :o)

Went to Silo Park on the weekend and found two Porygon within five minutes - and both of them ran on me! Got another alongside Victoria Park and then one in Glenfield yesterday evening, but funnily enough hatched one from an egg - possibly an egg I picked up from Silo Park.

However, the main reason for this post is to ask for some advice. I'm a bit conflicted as to what to do with my Dragonite. He's 2255 CP, 82% IV (15/14/8) with Steel Wing and Dragon Pulse, which is a crappy attacking moveset but a great defensive moveset. I evolved him from the best Dratini I had managed to acquire in months and months of playing, and gathered enough candies from untold kilometers of buddy walking. Is he worth powering to the max as a specialist gym defender? Or should I abandon him and start grinding for another? I have an 87% IV Dratini that could be a good candidate, though he's only 474 CP, and of course, the evolved moveset is impossible to predict. I have plenty of good attackers so I'm not too worried about not having an attacking Dragonite, but is he a good enough defender in which to invest all my rare Dratini candy?

I'm unqualified to answer your question, but I have a question of my own. How do you know a move set is better at attacking and defending?

I think the answer really depends on the gyms that you frequently play.

Defending a gym is much harder than attacking. Your pokemon (no matter how strong) will stay in the gym only as long as it takes for another team to launch an attack. So I think there's limited value in powering up a pokemon solely to defend gyms. On the other hand having more powerful attackers reduces the time to take down gyms.

Your 2255 Dragonite will probably get you into the bottom slots in the gym and therefore will be among the first to be removed. It may be worthwhile to power it up closer to 3000 CP so that it can stay in a gym long enough for you to get to 100 coins for the day.

There are lots of sites that give info on the different movesets and which combos are good for what - I use Triple Dex and also the PokeGenie app (which assesses your Pokemon from screenshots and gives you a moveset grade for both attack and defence). Trainer Tips on YouTube has some good video tutorials on the subject, too.

Yeah, if someone is keen enough, no moveset combo is going to stop them from taking down your defender. I guess the main determining factor in how long you stay in a gym is CP, and since Dragonite is capable of the highest CP of any Pokemon in the current Pokedex, he's more likely to occupy a higher (and potentially safer) slot. Man, I had a 2800CP one run away on me at Birkenhead Domain yesterday. I wish I'd caught him - he would have solved my dilemma.
