When I was settling down to sleep last week (Thursday night, I think) I randomly opened the game on the iPad and there was a Mareep in my bedroom! Crappy IV's, but at least I'll have one to leave as Mareep for my living 'dex when I finally evolve my best hatched ones to Flaafy and Ampharos. I'm only at 68 candies, so still a LOT more walking to do! My best catch was a high IV Bayleef which I evolved to Meganium (a new Pokemon for me) and got horrible moves. Sigh.

Wondering what the Easter holiday will bring. I'm sure it'll be a spring festival, or something similar, to avoid religious references. Assume there will be egg involvement - both hatchable and lucky. Or perhaps they'll have an Earth Day event instead, which is about the same time as Easter.

Over the last few days I must have had some terrific luck with evolution items; I currently have 3x Sun Stone, 5x Kings Rock, 4x Metal Coat, 2x Dragon Scale and 5x Up-grade

To add the missing Pokemon to the dex, I need to use a Kings Rock (Politoed) and a Dragon Scale (Kingdra).
Can think of uses for a few more Sun Stones and Kings Rock (though need to find suitable contenders)

Wow, I am jealous! I really, really want a Dragon Scale. I have the best Seadra to evolve. Huge CP, great IV, terrible moves. I've got 1 x Metal Coat, 1 x Sun Stone, 3 x Kings Rock on hand. Already evolved a Scissor.

Evolved Politoed and Kingdra last night and of course they got poor movesets (though they were never really in the running as being anything)

I also hatched another Dratini that took me to 192 candies .. so I decided to try for another Dragonite. Sadly got Steel Wing/Hyper Beam, so he will sit on my pile of shame.

Down to 10 candy for Mareep .. so close to Ampharos

I think Unown will take a while to find ... and may take some "detective" work to make sure I am in the right place at the right time (ie, scanners)

Yeah, we've had a few pop up in Auckland - our Facebook sightings group normally alerts everyone - but so far none close enough for me to get to in time. Auckland traffic means that something has to spawn pretty close to be able to reach it before it despawns. Got another Metal Coat from my 7-day streak today, so Kingdra still eludes me. There's discussion on the Silph Road Reddit about CP being discarded in favour of Pokemon level for the new gym rework. I'm going to hold off getting rid of, or powering up, any of my Pokemon until it launches in case some of them suddenly become much more relevant than they are now. Imagine having the ability to train your Pokemon to learn new moves, or even to roll for a new moveset. My 100% Flareon with horribly nerfed moves lives in hope.

Update - Ampharos is secured
Gained the last candy I needed in my walk to work this morning and did the evolution .. of course he received the worst moveset (fighting) and so currently have 4 candies towards another

I also hatched a Larvitar which gave me enough candy to take my Level 25 Tyranitar to Level 30 and over CP3100

At the moment the Flaaffy I have been walking is currently my buddy .. not sure what I do now :-)

Come on lucky Unown spawn!

They definitely need to sort out the moveset lottery! It sucks when you walk all that way for bad moves.

RIP Pokemon Go

Forced Upgrade just occured (last hour or so) which has made the game unplayable for me

Submitted a new ticket:

Today I was forced upgraded to 0.59.2 version of the app. Once again issues raised (under ticket number #24447565) have appeared. All of these issues were not issues when running under 0.57.4 version.

* While phone is locked, the GoPlus device vibrates red every 10-15 seconds
* While phone is locked, the GoPlus device does not see/react to nearby PokeStops or Pokemon
* If phone is unlocked and then locked, Go Plus device will see/react to nearby PokeStops but will report that the PokeStop is not ready/try again later. However the items are collected.
* If the phone is unlocked and then locked, GoPlus device will not see/react to nearby Pokemon at all.

The only way to catch Pokemon with this version of the app is manually.

At the current version the GoPlus is completely useless and the application should never have been upgraded from 0.57.4 which worked without any issues.

Until resolved my time with Pokemon Go has come to an end.
I will also be submitting this report every day until resolved.

Ugh, how frustrating. I hope they fix it. Niantic's support doesn't have the best track record, but a few people on Silph Road have mentioned getting good services. Is there any way you can borrow an iOS device to play on in the meantime? I catch manually most of the time, but GoPlus is my main method of collecting resources, so without it, I'd really struggle. As it is, I have to keep the game open because it keeps crashing in the background and disconnecting the GoPlus (iPhone 6S). My son's on Android and I haven't been able to get his Plus connected since it updated. Fortunately, he has somehow managed to amass over 500 Pokeballs and only catches Pokemon he's really interested in manually, so he's not too bothered.

Hoping I can get the 0.61.1 update soon, and I pray that fixes all the issues
I suspect it won't though.

No need for an iOS device as it the current version is broken on it as well

I can play manually .. but don't want to as the Go Plus changed how I play the game and is the reason I think I have been "into it" for as long as I have.

upgraded to 0.59.2

New version has been released 0.61, we should get it within a day or so. Some people get the apk and side-install.

Ooh, I wish I could have the fun of discovery and starting all over again! I loaded it onto my phone the day it launched so my son and I had something to do together over the July school hols that got us out of the house, and it quickly became an addiction. I recommend watching Trainer Tips on YouTube for a really good explanation of the game mechanics (although some of the info has been outdated by game updates) and The Silph Road subreddit for useful (and accurate) info. They data mine each APK to find out what's been added to the game's code, and successfully predicted the Generation 2 release several days in advance. Also check out The Silph Road Nest Atlas to find out which parks in your area are nests, and what species you can catch there. Nests change every second Thursday at midday (or 1pm DST) and just migrated yesterday. If you've got any questions, ask away!

I have to say, it's changed my life. I have never walked so much. I have found so many cool parks around my area that I never knew existed. I get lots of fresh air and exercise. My son actually wants to get off the computer and go for walks. I think it's pretty incredible that a mobile game can do that. Sure, the game has problems (they launched in a hurry to catch the US summer and have been patching up issues ever since) and it drains phone battery like nothing I've ever seen, but there are some big changes coming this year that I think are going to make it pretty epic.

Sadly, upgrading to version 0.61.0 has not resolved any of the connection/game play issues with the PoGo Plus that were introduced in version 0.59.1

Rather than re-typing everything out, here is a link to the Reddit thread I started to track all the issues. https://www.reddit.com/r/GoPlus/comments/64c2ln/0610_bugs_and_features/

While I was out in the weekend I also did a gym test .. sadly the dodge/die/come back bug is still present.

My frustration with this game is currently off the charts ...

I suspect they aren't going to invest a lot of time in the dodge bug when they're reworking the whole gym system anyway. Hopefully, it'll be resolved when that launches - my hunch is that it'll be early May after some kind of Easter event.

In terms of the PoGo Plus, I've resorted to putting my phone into low power mode (to stop the battery draining in under an hour) and leaving the game running in my bag while I use the GoPlus, otherwise the game crashes in the background and disconnects me. I don't mind doing this so much - all it does is use a little extra battery, and apparently, testing by people on The Silph Road has revealed that the GoPlus tracks more distance with the game open than in the background. But I agree it's not good enough that we have to resort to such workarounds to get the device to work the way it should. Niantic has just opened a support Twitter account (@NianticHelp) that you could try contacting - send them your Reddit link so they can see the full list of issues.
