Was able to do a couple of Kyogre raids after work and a) tough son of a [xxxxx] to take down - had Thunder as the charge move and all of us (4x Level 40, 1x L39, 1x L37) went through at least 7 Pokemon and b) son of a [xxxxx] to capture - I resorted to alternating Nanab berries with Golden Razz to try and stop him from moving around as I haven't perfected my curve throw on the side yet ...

Sadly both attempts to capture were not successful, so the shadow will elude me until the weekend

Yep, he's a tough mofo in both instances.  Over the weekend while both Kyogre and Groudon were around, Groudon was a lot easier.
I'm at 4 from 11 currently after some apparently flukey first attempts to go 3 from 5 on day one.

Finally caught a Relicanth.

Nice! I've run into a few around Glenfield and Bayview, including one lurking in someone's yard near Lynn Reserve the other week.

My one was caught at the Constellation Road bus terminal, across the road from where I work. Had to run out in the rain today to get it... sealed

The things we do for Pokemon Go. I've had some good catches at that bus station including a Charizard and a Dragonite.

#3 Kyogre - another fail

I see that Niantic have finally released a new version of the app that fixes the Pokemon storage scroll bug they introduced before Xmas.

Gosh darn it Niantic, learn to TEST your releases before pushing them out to the app stores.

Sure you may have patched the last flaw and included a couple of nice QOL improvements (your mileage may vary), but at the cost of introducing more bugs into the game ..

FFS!

Out of interest, what bugs have you found?
I'm still waiting for it to show up in the Play store.

I think some of the flying sprites are going crazy and glitching off the screen. I do wonder how well they test these updates, if at all. I'm heading out for Community Day - just got the update half an hour ago so that will help with the mass evolves I plan to do while I'm out and about. Also going to try a chain raid at an EX-eligible gym if something suitable pops up. I hope those surfing Pikachu are plentiful with good odds of being shiny.

Community Day was pretty good; managed to get a 100% IV Pikachu as well as 7 Shinys in various IVs (none good)

Spent the weekend doing a bunch of raids and on my first raid of the weekend got a 98% IV Kyogre, but after that the catch rate went to the dogs (currently sitting at 4 out of 14)

I totally forgot about Community Day until about 2 minutes before it was due to end. I fired up the game and saw a Pikachu outside, captured it and was disappointed to see that he didn't have a surfboard. frown

We all hung out at Hurstmere Green in Takapuna because it has a good quad-stop there. Pikachus were spawning like crazy and it was just a couple of minutes before people started catching shiny ones. Took me about half an hour to get my first, but ended up with six - five males and a female. I evolved one into a Raichu and kept the rest. My son got a shiny one of each gender. It was a really nice group outing. Lots of families and excitement. I did evolves between spawns and ended up with about 200,000 XP and 50,000 stardust by running lucky eggs and star pieces for the full three hours. Would have gotten more stardust but those Pikachu are hard to catch. I ended up just tossing normal Pokeballs at anything under 400CP, but I golden razzberried my shinies :)

Sunday we spent some time trying to trigger EX raids at gyms that had never had them before but are eligible. The ones we tried had all hosted a T5 raid that some of the crew had done during the week. We did 4 gyms in separate S2 cells that were holding T1 or T2 raids and went in solo one after the other so that the lobby was occupied for the full 45 minutes of each raid. One cell in particular is virtually abandoned - nobody raids there and certainly the gym we hit never sees any action. I'm really curious to see if we are successful when passes are issued tomorrow. Because passes didn't go out this morning, people individually hit up a few of the same gyms again today when solo-able raids popped up. If we don't get any passes, it won't be for lack of trying! Our aim is to work out if we can trigger EX raids at will so those in our crew who haven't received an invite yet will have a better chance at finally getting one. They've put in so much work to date for no reward whatsoever.

Dunedin managed to trigger an EX raid at a park they had identified as being EX raid potential; from what I can gather it was a series of different raids that got people their passes rather than just one raid.
3 of the Level 40's I hang out with got passes, so now I will never hear the end of it ..

I didn't get a pass, though mainly because I didn't raid at the park that got the EX raid - nor did I do any raids at any potential EX gyms
My time was super limited to do raids last week (and every other week I work late) ...
